OT - Still Hungry

The smell of that cake went on for hours and all you ladies are just adding to my hunger pangs. Belgium Chocolate cake, Oh-h-h-h-h-h-h. Polly Ester I though you'd at least you'd give me some sympathy...... so think I'll just go down the block to Pauls Pastry and get me a cake. And no the smell wasn't coming from the bakery, they don't start baking till about 5 a.m.

Isn't this awful, a senior citizen drooling over the smell of a fresh baked cake.

My mind is still trying to cope with the idea of someone (other than a baker) up at 1:30AM baking anything!

Maybe she did with the chocolate cake what I do with the Christmas cakes: stuff them in the oven and go to bed while they cook on the timer!

Polly: So, now this 'disease' is named after me? Like Alzheimer's Disease is named for Dr. Alzheimer, and Meniere's Disease is named after Mr. Meniere?? WOW!

About that Red Velvet cake! Do you have a recipe? I searched all of my cook books (about 15) and my cards and could NOT find a RV cake recipe! I needed RV cake this week, so I bought the RV Mix. BTW: I used the Low Fat method, substituting Apple Sauce for Oil, as suggested on the box. It was rather dry. So, if you would like to send me a recipe, I'd be grateful.

Well, I really did have no suggestions to offer when you were feeling uninspired to quilt. I did read all the ideas hoping something would reach through my own little fog. I guess we could name it Polly Esther melt-down . I found three Red Velvet recipes. Would you like the one that is made with Butter Buds, no cholesterol and only .7 g of fat? the one filed under "light" or the one that goes, excuse the expression, hawg wild? Polly

I know it's downright rude to reply to your own post but couldn't resist. Those cookies were ready and absolutely divine! DH has already had two and I've had two - and I've now got, was it Melinda's?, Bananana cake recipe in the oven. Mmmmmm - the DDs had a great time with the beaters!

Gee, Sharon. I didn't know it was rude replying to your own post. Reckon we need to go back for a refresher course at Miss Manners? Kind of like talking to yourself. Sometimes it's a good idea. Polly

Oh I've just heard/read other people say it's rude so I figured it must be - but it sure feels good!

They all sound great, but I can't really eat cake at the moment: combination of things I have to watch out for because of the gall bladder (sweet stuff and fats!) and trying to stick to WW and lose a bit more before I face the op.

Fruit cakes and the chocolate Christmas cake cook really well over night

- I adjust the time a bit - but i haven't tried it with a Victoria or sponge cake recipe, or with my madeira cake recipe. James's favourite cake it a chocolate madeira cake with glace cherries in it and marzipan and dark chocolate all over the outside!

I was once told that when I found more info about something before my post was answered. I ignored the poster. I try not to answer my own posts, but it is only polite to let people know of you find an answer before anyone else, I think.
