OT - Tears in Heaven Again

I suppose the weather was appropriate today, dull, gray and rainy. My Mom called me today around noon to tell me that my grandfather had just passed away. He was 97. I'm glad that we were able to see him and get 5 generation pictures in June but I'm sad that I won't be able to go to the funeral. After being down there for my brother's funeral in July there is no way I can make the trip again. They say it comes in threes and this is number two. All my grandparents are gone now and I can't even think about who will be next. So if you all don't mind me asking again, please keep my family in your prayers. Thank you all so much.

Hugs, Mika

Thank you ALL so very much for the kind words, hugs and prayers. It really means so much to me. Even though I don't get to post on here as often as I would like, I feel like you all are my extended family. With DH traveling and being gone as often as he is, sometimes just being able to come in here and read the joys of new grandbabies, finished quilts, new QI's, children's/SO/personal accomplishments or whatever the joyous occasion may be, it helps put a little sunshine back in the day. To read a sad post from someone who has just lost a loved one or found out that a loved one is ill or whatever the sad occasion might me, it helps to realize that there are others who are feeling the same sadness and loss that I am. Not that I am or would ever wish that on someone but we all know that illness and death are inevitable. To be able to share and exchange the hugs, prayers, joys and so on really is something special. So thank you all for everything.

I wasn't really that close to my grandfather so grieving for him in particular is not such a big deal. It just brings back all the memories of losing my brother such a short time ago and that is still so very painful and I want to be there for the rest of my family. Most days I just can't even allow myself to think about. A really strange thing happened a couple of night ago though that kind of gave me some peace for a short time. My oldest son is so much like my brother, built like him, sounds a lot like him, even has some features like him and he loved my brother so very much. DS came over to the house to pick up the baby and change a battery on the car for me. When he walked in the back door it was my brother walking in. The feeling that brother was in my kitchen was sooooo strong that I almost called out to him. That feeling of him being there lasted for a couple of minutes. It wasn't just a fleeting thing that you feel and then it's gone almost as if it didn't happen. It was there and it took me awhile to shake the feeling.

Again, thank you ALL so very much.

Hugs, Mika

Mika, I am so sorry to hear of the lost of your grandfather. Grandparents are such special people and I think of all the people that never knew theirs and it makes me lucky that I did know 3 of mine. I never knew my dad's father but I did his mother and both of my mother's parents. I can remember one great grandmother also, but that is it.

My prayers, thoughts and condolences are with you and your family tonight and in the upcoming weeks.
