OT - trade for brown flannel?

Hello folks, I have a baby quilt nearly finished, all pinned and ready to quilt, so wouldn't you know it - someone went and had a baby. These things happen. Mark's sister just had a baby boy, so the red/white/blue quilt will be finished and go to him (James). But James has a

3-year-old brother, who will probably be jealous.... so a look through my books has revealed a very cute Double 9-patch combined with brown rabbits quilt. This quilt calls for brown flannel to make the rabbits cozy and cuddly, but I never buy flannel. I wondered if anyone here would have 1/2 yard of plain brown flannel or tone-on-tone brown flannel that they would consider trading for something? Name your price.....

Can't help you with the flannel, unfortunately, but maybe you could use fleece? Edges don't need finishing, won't shrink. Roberta in D

And why do the bunnies all need to be brown? Use some of your "mountain o' fleece" and make the pattern your very own.

Just what I was thinking Pati. You might ask Alice who is quite familiar with the opinions of the 3 year-old male. I don't think I'd use white considering the little guy's likely love of dirt and grubby things but plaid flannel might be 'just right'. It ought to be easy to find an old plaid flannel shirt or two to provide the feel you are wanting. Polly

I was thinking along the same lines as Polly. You might find a brown wool skirt or shirt at a thrift store that will work for you. (I don't have any brown flannel either.)

The Mountain O'Fleece is substantially reduced now, after a Christmas of making many, many scarves. Also it is mainly bright colours and dark red, purple, etc due to a massive scarf order in those colours. So I don't have much brown and it's sort of a dusty beige.

Because the quilt is going to be for a 3-year-old, I was hoping to stick with all cotton. I think it will be washed a lot.
