OT - Update on DGD

Thank you so much for all your prayers, good thoughts, and well-wishes. So far, DGD is showing no symptoms of having contracted the menengitis that her DH has. This is good news. A few more days, and we should be out of the worry-zone. Thanks again, everyone.

You are just full of questions, and unfortunately, I have no answers. :-) But I agree, it's not something to mess with.

my ds when he was 14yo had meningoccol type, spent two weeks in hospital, lost some of his hearing (put him on steriods to slow that up), on anti biotics to kill the disease but not before it had him nearly totally deaf in hospital and it also attacked his hip joints (it happened right in mid adolescence, all that growing going on). we nearly lost him...was within hours of it had we not got to the emergency clinic at midnight Saturday. had we waited til morning we'd of lost him. its a nasty one if its the wrong one. now they give a shot for immunity for one of them to all kids under 20yo, iirc, sumpin like that. scares the bejeesuz outta me. recalls 9/11 everytime i think of it as we were on day 4 in hospital that day. i stayed with him in hospital for the full two weeks. took months for him to come right and regain all the weight he'd lost. rotten time for us that yr all around. mom came back with me from usa that yr, then i got injury getting her to sit up in bed for lunch (took me 6 weeks of PT and pain meds to fix me) and she had to go into a nursing home cuz i couldnt look after her. there she stayed til she died 3 yrs later. sorry i got lost in my own story. i do hope he is isolated til they work out which type he has. jeanne
