Thank you to those that sent thoughts and prayers for our grandson that was having open heart surgery back in June.
The latest from his mother is that she has never in his almost 10 years, seen him this active. She says it is like having a different child! He can walk several blocks without being exhausted, he runs short distances, he's allowed to go in the water now so has been at the beach playing (they had to buy him special clothing to wear in the water as he is not to expose his chest to the sun). He says his chest is still sore - they have been told to expect him to complain about it for many more months yet as his ribs will take time to heal.
All fingers are crossed that this good heart health will continue for many years. The docs told them they could hope for somewhere between 2 and 7 years, at which time he will have to have something similar done again. My understanding is that it is to do with how much he will grow in that time frame and how the fix that they just did, grows with him.
Just thought some of you might like to know the outcome.
