It's snowing like crazy here, too! :O I didn't think it would stick, but that's exactly what it's doing -- we seem to be in some sort of fairyland at the moment.

I'm freezing! LOL!

our local TV station had steaming video from LV. It's been snowing here for about 9 hours. I think we have 6-7 inches so far and it's snowing hard. Right now it's falling at 1-2 inches/hour.

Well so do we, when we is Macarran International Airport in Las Vegas, no flights are taking off, so our flight is probably cancelled. This is after we checked all our baggage, returned our rental car etc. I'm not sure what would be worse, hanging out in the airport and trying to get on the first flight out, or having to collect everything and going to a hotel. We've been away from home for a week, I'm exhausted, the kids are sleep deprived and already acting up, so all in all the snow is not a good thing!

We have snow on our local hills. Farmers have turned up the wind machines trying to keep air moving and not freeze crops. Don't think that will work.... ;( We have had freezing rain right at the coast, and there are mudslides in the fire areas.

Just before 5PM I had a message from a defendant on a case set for tomorrow, she is stuck in northern/central Calif due to snow and will not appear. I hope she contacted the attorney on the other side.

Finally had to break out my portable heater last night. Am baking pumpkin dump cake tonight so that will warm the place for a while. Maybe.

LOL, or not really, we're right by you just now - at the airport! When we were getting our bags into our rental car this morning there were a few spots of snow, we pretty much laughed it off, we drove out to Lake Mead and it started raining, then as we were driving back along Lake Mead Blvd we could see that the clouds were right down low over the city and the rain turned to sleet and then snow, and I kept saying, how soon it would stick, soon it would stick, which of course it did, the vast majority of flights have been cancelled, but our airline fortunately has a plane here that it really wants to get back to Sea-Tac, looks like none of the Alaska Air flights to Seattle were full today as it was easy to rebook onto that flight, though not before they had unchecked our baggage, so DH had to go all the way back to the terminal to collect and recheck it. The most recent announcement was no news, but with the plane here, it will have to go sometime and it's currently dry and relatively clear.

When I lived in northern Arizona we had LOTS of snow. Our dogs loved it! Their favorite game was to "surf" the snow!

Pumpkin Dump Cake - tell us more Ginger!

As of yesterday, our Mount Diablo had 6" of snow on it & the road to the top was closed to vehicles. Our daytime temp has been hovering around 41 degrees - very cold for us - but it's getting down to 28 degrees during the night. BRRR!!

Gosh, Anne, what a shame you were here and we couldn't have a little meet-up! But I'm very glad you got out, since I did hear that the entire airport had been closed down.

We ended up with over 3" of snow at our house (it's still here, too!), and there were parts of the area with about 8". Very unusual, to say the least.

DH was supposed to drive to southern AZ today to pick up MIL for Christmas, coming back here on Tuesday. Now he's leaving here tomorrow; the roads are a mess!

I heard we made the national news. I guess it's really noteworthy when LV gets this much snow. LOL!

We are up to 30 inches of snow since yesterday morning and could get another

6 inches today. DH made it the 6 blocks to work. I wouldn't be surprised if he stays there tonight.

The official line from the aiport was that they were not closed, but given no flights left or arrived for about 14 hours, the crucial bits were closed. I think they were trying to convince themselves that if the terminal buildings were open, then really they weren't closed, but that's a bit like MacDonalds without junk food! We didn't leave the airport until gone 9pm and though it was much quieter than when we'd got there, but there were an awful lot of bags in the baggage hall, so those people must have been scattered around the gate areas.

there is something about using 'dump' and 'pumpkin' in the same place that just breaks my heart. snorfle, j.
