OT: Where I've been

It's been a long time since I've been able to read the ng. In fact, I can't even remember the last time, but I suspect is was back in March right before our trip to Jamaica. We had a fabulous time and I'm really glad we got the vacation in.

After that two weeks, thinks got really, really crazy at work. I thought it was just trying to get caught up before the annual trip to Paducah, but that turned out not to be the case. I've had this job for 6 years and never once have I had an enforcement case that didn't settle. Some of them took a year or more, but they all settled. Suddenly in April I had 2 cases go nuts and so they went to litigation. And then after that 2 more. And I'm expecting that we'll be sued by another company shortly.

At the best of times, we're sort handed at my Agency, and even more so under this particular Gov. (Don't get me started on that guy!) And it hasn't helped that my immediate boss has been on an extended family leave. By unit has been reporting directly to the Chief Legal Counsel, who is a very nice guy, but it's nearly impossible to get him to make decisions sometimes. Hopefully my immediate boss will be back soon, but no one really knows yet.

I feel like I spend half my time going back and forth to Chicago. And even when I do manage to get a day away (my guild had Carol Doak here in June) to quilt, I end up getting called by someone with some crisis.

I try to get a little sewing/quilting time each week, but seems I do more looking for parts of my projects than anything else. I have managed to finish a couple of small tops, but don't know when I'll get around to quilting them.

David went camping for the night, so I'm hoping to get my cutting table at least cleared off this afternoon and some of the backup files restored to the replacement for the iMac that was stolen earlier this year.

I'm sure I've missed a lot so I send Hugs to everyone whose needed them the past couple of months and Happy Dances for everyone who deserves them.

And I have to add to my own post. Along with all this, I've got work on the brain this afternoon because of a super busy couple of weeks coming up, while all the rest of this was happening, we also had a bad scare over DF's lungs. And one of our QIs, Kropotkin, crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

One of the good things that has happened is that after several years, David has finally found tenants for all the apartments in the building. He's much happier knowing that he's getting income from all the apartments (and I feel less guilty for taking over the basement without paying rent), even though we do miss the quiet of a half empty building.

I can't remember right now if anything else has happened in the last 3 or 4 months.

Good to see you back. Sorry you've had such a traumatic time. It sounds frightful. Hope things settle down before too much longer. . In message , Maureen Wozniak writes

It's good to see you back, Maureen! I hope things settle down at work so you'll be able to relax more. Good luck with your new iMac -- I do love Macs!

I'd been having so much trouble before we left, that we decided we wouldn't even try and get certified. At the resort we inquired about just doing the resort training, but the instructor persuaded me to give getting certified another try. He put me in the pool for a couple of hours and then decided we'd be diving the next morning. Seems all I needed was to get into the ocean. Once I had things to look at other than the high school swim team above my head, I did fine. :-)

We came open with our open water diving certification. I can't wait until we get a chance to go again.
