Re: OT Mended Computer I hope

DS has now done clever things to computer, and it now works ok. However he had never met Thunderbird before not being into Newsgroups, so some of my settings seem a little different and need tweeking.

My siggy does not appear when it should, so will consult with DH when he returns from flying model gliders with DS this evening.

It does mean I can quilt all day like John though!

Incidently, when I went to intall Free Agent which I still kept on as a backup, it says it is being discontinued so they can give a better service to their paying Agents.

I also fly RC Gliders. On my way to our first contest of the year today so all day will be spent looking up in the sky instead of sewing. Hey, you need more than one hobby or you'll go nuts!!!!

Thanks - as soon as I read the message I remembered I had saved the siggy in text from last time.

I'm gradually working through all the settings I like on everything. Its surprising how many there are to change back - from wallpaper to size and colour of text. Also things like EQ5 and 6 to reinstall.

However, everything now works, and that is the main thing.

That's a bummer about Free Agent. I never liked it but I know people who have relied on it for years and love it.

Personally, I use Power-Grab for reading and collating binary files, it's very simple (I need that, LOL) and is completely free. It's hard to find now, though, as the young man who designed it has closed his website. If you ever need the program, drop me a line and I will be happy to email you a copy. It's a very small program. And I use SuperNews (a paid newsgroup source) to get both binary and text newsgroups, my ISP could probably do it but the retention is very poor on every other site I have found and these folks are sooooooo reliable!
