Denim Pocket Photo Mats

I'm a member of a book club at the LSS. We are using the Creating Keepsakes Collection Elements box set. One book every month for five months. The book showed using a denim pocket as a mat for a photo, so I decided to give it a try. I loved the look, and made another...and another. My DH thought I was crazy when I started cutting pockets off the back of an old pair of his jeans - he was throwing them away anyway. Since these three LO's I have collected pockets off an old pair of my granddaughter's fav jeans she outgrew (Mary Kate & Ashley brand) with the name tag still on the pocket and fancy stitching to boot. I'm going to do a LO for her album with them. See what you think. They are in my webshots account in the New Techniques album (last three LO's).

Love the idea! I have pockets that I've saved but didn't know how to use them-till now! Barb:o)

Sandy, That is so cute!!! What a cool idea, thank you for sharing.

Question, on the Molly LO, is the picture a regular photo or is it a digital print to fabric paper?

It is a regular photo I cropped. I felt safer by mounting the photos on cardstock before placing them on the denim. Just in case there were an issue later. Sandy

Sandy you always come up with the coolest ideas. Now all I need to do is find an old pair of jeans no one is using. :-)

I got a brand new pair of jeans, I dont wear, I wonder if using them in scrapping, if my hubby would mind to much? He is always telling me I need new ones. LOL Sharyn

That is so cool Sandy! I have some denim papers, embellishments and borders that I could use with a pocket page too! WOW! What kind of adhesive did you use to attach it to the page? I'll bet you could use the pocket to tuck things into, also! (my scrappin' wheels are turnin' now!) Linda C

What a great LO Sandy. I like the way the pocket is used....I will have to grab the next pair of jeans the boys toss out and get the pockets off. I really liked the LO with the photo on it, really liked the use of colors, like the bottle cap too!

Thanks. My sister stopped at a yard sale after she saw the LO's at my house and bought a pair of jeans for fifty cents. Sandy

It would save space in the closet if they were gone. Sandy

I used glue dots. It seemed to work the best. I have a tag in the pocket of the Jesse LO. When I cut the pocket off the jeans I cut it to leave fabric behind the pocket. That way I had a place for tags after it was attached to the page. I have the stamp set from Stampin Up that has a stamp that looks like a denim pocket. I stamped it on cardstock that looks like cardboard, cut it out as a tag and attached fibers, and then journaled on the back. Sandy

Thanks, glad you liked it. You will have to post yours when you get it done. I always like to see how others take a LO and scraplift it - they give it their own personality.

Creative Memories has Denim albums in all sizes now, and that would be a cool outside to go with, perhaps, an all pockets album.
