I HATE BANKS!!!

UGH. I pay a utility with online bill pay. They take the money out a day before I tell them to (therefore no paycheck). Bounce. Bounce. I think it is over. Tonight... well since they bounced it TWICE, there isn't enough money in my account to cover another bill. Bounce.

The bastards made 90 dollars off me because they didn't pay it when I told them to! UGH! I've fought with them already, I swear, banks should be regulated... this is rediculous. it takes me 4 days to make that kind of money! That is all my gas and food money for the next two weeks! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Soooo if anyone wants a QK, now would be a good time to make me a reasonable offer. That and an ipod photo, and I'll have a few more scrapbook related items up on ebay soon. Looks like scrapping and I won't be happening for a while. GRRRRRRR.

When you tell someone "money won't be in until friday after midnight" doesn't that mean you take the payment AFTER that date? Are people really this stupid? UGH. Lets see me pay any bills electronically again. I don't think so.

I pay almost all of my bills electronically and have no problems. Do you do it online or thru a person? I prefer online because you can usually set a date you want it to come out but if its a person you have to rely on them to get it right. Never say "After midnight on Friday",instead say Saturday or whichever day you want it to come out. The person setting it up usually has no control over what time transactions are done (in fact often they are done by someone else entirely) but they can control which day they are set up to be done.

I feel for you RJ! What a mess! Like Deb I do mine entirely 100% online and have for about 5 years with no hasltes at all. I sure hope that this gets squared away for you. They should at least take off the extra charges! I would go higher up the food chain and ask rather than vent at them. When you do it 100% online, you also get to email customer support. It has been my experience that since it is less confrontational and there is no blame felt by the person answering your query, they are more likely to be flexible and not get their backs up.

Good luck! M-C

I'm so sorry to hear about your banking problems. I too, bank online have for about 2 years now. Since it works so fast online I don't pay any bills until the pay check has shown up in my account. We have pay checks go directly into the account. I don't schedule payments for fear that it might go out early. My experience has been they are late though. I've never had one paid early. I sure hope you can work this out with them. If you had it scheduled and they paid early with some discussion they have to make it right.

What a bummer. That's why I don't do auto pay. I just go in when I'm ready and do bill pay they day I want it paid it that makes since. Now, my bank just redid their online. They way it used to be. When I did bill pay that day it came out. Now........it doesn't come out until the business cashes the check. Confusing.

I emailed so many people. UGH. I had to do it through a person at the electric company. I won't do that again. They took another 30 out last night... so 120 bux now for ONE transaction. I just don't have that kind of money. They tape these conversations but nobody wants to accept responsibility for anything. I give up. I'll just sell more of my stuff to pay for it. It's just becoming really frustrating.. it seems I just keep losing and losing. Pretty soon I'll only have the clothes on my back, if I'm lucky. Even if you don't do anything wrong and everything right, you lose. UGH.

I've emailed so many people and talked to my personal rep at the bank. They won't do anything. Its how they make their money. Soooo.. I'll just keep some cash in there at all times and never ever ever use electronic anything. I won't even use my bank card except as an ATM card now. GRRR

I figured they would have to fix it but they just keep taking more out of my account. I'm learning anymore to stop fighting and roll over and take it. Not like the little guy has any say in anything anymore.

I have been in your shoes RJ, with the whole" banks are always right" thing!! I do feel for ya! They do make mistakes, and it's a shame they wont make it right for you. Sometimes friendly persistence pays off in the end, so don't give up! I don't pay any bills online, simply because I dont want to take the chance of messing my account up, and I am a little scared of online identity theft! I sure cant afford costly bank errors that are not in my favor! I do much better with paying bills by mail or in person. Someday, maybe I will join the masses by paying online.....

Identity Theft is the fastest growing crime in America, especially online. That's called phishing. Most people think identiy theft is related to credit card fraud.

There is a vast difference between "Credit Card Fraud" and "Identity Theft." Identity thieves use your personal information to make purchases with your credit information. They also secure employment, obtain insurance, and commit crimes by using your identity! There have been cases of some individuals taking medical tests such as an HIV/AIDS test using another person's identity, and when the ID theft victim attempted to purchase health or life insurance they were informed that they could not because the MIB (Medical Information Bureau) records indicated that they were HIV positive, when they were not.

There are certain things you can do to lessen your risk. However, it is impossible to avoid being victimized 100%. There have been many cases cited recently in the news about companies having tens of thousands of individuals' personal information lost or stolen from their databases. Some identity thieves infiltrate human resource departments as employees and gain access to this information in the normal course of their job and then sell it to others.

According to the Federal Trade Commission:

"Identity theft victims spend countless hours and an average of $1,500. in the quest to clear their name".

There are a few companies now trying to "cash in" on this problem by offering a service which includes you receiving a copy of your credit report, score, and quarterly credit monitoring. They only cover the primary member.

"Quarterly credit monitoring is not enough and there is NO restoration service offered with these services!"

There is a service which I would like you to check out called "Identity Theft Shield." It is available through two 30 + year old, publicly traded companies: Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. and Kroll Background America.

This service covers you and your spouse for $12.95 per month as a stand-alone product or at a discounted price of $9.95 if added to the Family Legal Services plan offered through Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.

They also send the member an up-to-date credit report through Experian; a personal credit score calculated by an independent scoring service; a detailed analysis of their credit score; and continuous DAILY credit monitoring. Suspicious activity will be brought to your attention providing you with early detection which is KEY! In addition to these services, experienced professionals from a division of the world's leading risk consulting company, Kroll Background America, will take the steps to restore your name and credit for you!

I urge you to visit the following Websites for additional information:

I work in a customer service dept at one of our local bank's here. I will be the first to warn (even though I shouldn't) stay AWAY from billpay (online payments). Unless you schedule your payment 4-7 days in advance most likely there will be a problem. Any questions please feel free to email at mickey8888atVerizondotCom.

OOOHH Ronni, so sorry to hear this. Guess it relates sorta to what I have went thru now too.

I refuse to pay on line and even hate AUTOMATIC payments. Stinking MSN requires it and I am not happy with it. Oh TLC does too on my monthly AC kit. One screwup on either and they are thru is all that I can say.

As for using their 'banccard' as a ATM card, oooh not good either. Cash is too much a temptation anyhow and things happen. So many places charge fees for atms as we know. I REFUSE to take the "free" yea right as if I was born TODAY, ATM card the bank is always wanting me to take and keep. Anyhow just get one of their 'bankcards' and use it as credit transactions for purchases. A lot of banks charge to use it as a 'debit' transaction, just like a atm. Plus you do not have to have or use a pin number for credit transactions. The only thing you gotta remember is make sure you subtract the 'charge' out of the checkbook!!

Yeah I don't have a problem keeping up with the charges and all... I'm retentive about record keeping... but my electric company took the money out before I told them to and that is what started all of this....

They will get good old paper checks and have to wait for their money now. :D

Since the transaction was thru the electric company ask the bank when the transaction was completed also ask them when your paycheck was deposited. If it was before the time you requested then tell the bank you are desputing the charges from the electric company and they should put the money back in your account until the despute has been settled. I wouldn't let the matter drop either. Keep after them. It is your money after all. Have any questions you can email me.

Thanks but after three days on the phone with them and filing a compaint with both the PUC and the BBB, I'm tired. I only lost 30 bux, so it wasn't a cheap lesson, but I'll call it good for now. I think my blood pressure is worth that.. LOLOL Yeah I've told them that, and even demanded they pull the tapes from when I called, but they won't. They are a monopoly here and they can do what they want.
