Just a couple of projects to keep me busy

I took a few minutes tonight to put pictures of my recent projects on my web page:

The infamous pillowcases:

My sister's (very late) Christmas present, finished after the pillowcases were delivered:

And a new shirt I just made to wear on vacation next week:

The item I'm making for Ursula's DD is done, but I won't put pictures up until after she receives it. I won't be able to get to the post office until after I return from the beach. :-(

Whew!

Very nice, indeed. I hope they thanked you on their knees as is their duty! ;->

Lovely, indeed!

Ah yes, just the thing for the beach; the cotton is easy care, I take it? Anyway, the colours are so deep, and rich, and juicy - just like the plums in my parents' garden that are ripening now. I really like that. I'll try to make something for my trip to the seaside, too, but I'm not sure I'll be able to finish it. Anyway, you set quite a pace and I'm striving to keep up with it (I've given up following Kate's, since that is far too fast for me), and all in all, I'm quite proud and happy to be part of a group of such diligent and creative people as is alt.sewing.

Ah, don't worry about that; the little darling is spoilt enough as she is; we redid her room, meaning that we gave away the couch that took so much space and now she has a little kitchen there with a table and chair. She is so proud of it; she decorated the table with all her plates and cups and is expecting guests all the time. On her door, there's a 'wind chime' made of a fake lei in Germany's national colours, a key strap with bottle opener and a plush 'Hello Kitty' (rattles nicely when the door is moved and the lei and other parts tend to get stuck in the door, but dear me, what has to be has to be). And the door is to be closed at all times. Perhaps it's about time to hand her the 'good' IKEA toy china, cutlery and glasses... ;-)

You take your time and have a smashing time! Take deep breath of Pacific sea breeze for me, too.

U.

That's a pretty good excuse for being as quiet as you've been. Nice work!

Delicious I will give Mum a tour of them later but we are going "lady shopping" as my son called it when he was little, today. So She will admire as much as I do tomorrow.

Pretty.

Non matching pockets!!! Shocking ( duck & run) but you are right so much easier to find.

Lovely work as ever Beverly. I'm going off to fondle fabic in Pau for the day. Happy day!!

All the projects are beautiful; I love the shirt, the colors are gorgeous. I seldom wear them, except in the summers to doctors visits and shopping. Maybe I should make some new ones and wear them more often.

By the way, I lived several years on the Gulf Coast of MS and miss seeing the water every day and walking on the sand.

I love the style and colors in the shirt! All your projects are beautiful! Barbara in NOT SC

Actually I AM in SC. That was a typo! Barbara in HOT SC

Glad you explained that. Usually I read right through typos with nary a bobble but that one baffled me; couldn't decided if you were not in SC or suspected you were hot wherever you were. It's hot here too but we know what to do - we stay inside until about 5 pm. Polly

I received a very nice thank you note, and a gift package containing a mug with the USIR logo, a pound of 'handcrafted coffee" beans, some Stash peppermint herbal tea, and several handmade shortbread cookies! ... and a mention in the program... with my name spelled wrong. :-}

Thanks!

Yes the colors are delicious! And when I wore it into the shop where I bought the fabric last year, both clerks exclaimed "you must have made that!" They were pleased to see their lovely fabric made up into a garment. And I found a cute black and white all-over print with tiny dragonflies to make another apron for younger DD. :-)

NO ONE is capable of keeping up with Kate. No one!

I did have a spectacular time. The Oregon beach can be cold and wet at all times of the year, but last week it was fabulous. Cool and overcast in the AM, but clearing and warm in the afternoon, with very little wind and a couple of spectacular sunsets. We lit a fire on the beach and roasted marshmallows to make S'Mores Wednesday night. (For Ursula, S'Mores:

) Sadly, DD, DSIL and DGD left Thursday after learning that DGD's bassoon teacher had a fatal heart attack on Wednesday. Damned text messaging, it would have been just as well to have learned that news after they returned home Friday as planned.

I stayed and enjoyed the cabin, walked on the beach, read two books on my iPad, and did a little shopping in Cannon Beach. Drove home Friday late afternoon, picked up a very happy-to-see-me MingTu, and started a couple of loads of laundry.

Thanks! They were really fun to do (well except the last

130 pillowcases). I also stitched four lighthouses on a denim shirt (pics soon), and took it with me to the beach. Several people stopped me to ask where I got it, they "wanted one just like it". ;->

Advise your mother to always ask "how many" before saying "sure" when asked if she would be willing to "embroider a few things"...

Thank you.

Occasionally a design element NEEDS to be unmatched in order for it to be seen. This was one of those times. I had enough fabric, I COULD have matched the print for the pockets, but then they would have disappeared. :-}

Thanks, Claire. I hope you and your mother have a wonderful shopping time together and find yards and meters of glorious fabric.

Thanks! I understand for the TY note I received that the dancers (and their mothers) loved them.

Sure, that's it, I'm not a procrastinator, I was stretching out the holidays.... ;-}

It was comfy, and I've finally perfected the alterations on that pattern so I like the way it fit. The quilt shop ladies recognized the fabric right away and pointed it out to several other customers. ;-)

I did, thank you! I love being on vacation, now I'm happy to be back.

Thanks, Emily!

I live in knit T-shirts, usually topped with a sweater or woven shirt. I like being able to peel off layers or add them on as the weather dictates.

DH and I had many very special weekends at the beach,and I savor those times, my favorite place to relax and veg is the Oregon coast. .

I'd like to see that, ma'am. My recently deceased cousin's husband is a lighthouse fan, and he has been calling me since she died. I think he's lonely for someone to talk with, most likely someone who doesn't say things like, "She's in a better place," etc., ad nausea. He quite liked it when I told him that I had made at least two good-faith efforts to kill her when we were young. He said he could relate to that. ;-)

I also stitched four

Here you go:

Do you think he'd like something embroidered? I could send you a link to the designs. ;->

Ugh. I had to bite my tongue when people said that to me after DH died. I knew they THINK they were comforting me, but they were not.

LOL!

I am sorry that the instructor passed away. You are so right about texts, etc. A phone call Friday would have sufficed, since there was nothing to be done, except pay respects to the family and maybe attend the funeral.
