[OT] Celebrating

I'm adding another decade mark today...

All things considered, it's better to be above ground. ;-)

Today's your natal anniversary? Happy Day! Any day above ground is good. May you see many, many more! BTW, the fire department asks that you not put candles on the cake.

Thanks!

We are also celebrating my aunt's 80th today, so I bought a couple of those large "8" and "0" candles for the cake. We are all going out to eat tomorrow, and the restaurant allows outside cakes, I have ordered a lemon cake with lemon filling decorated with white chocolate shavings.

Between my twin sister, my aunt, my brother (Thursday), and me, it would have required 285 candles!!! And if DH were alive (his BD is also today) we could have had 358... Pretty sure that would have set off the sprinklers. ;-}

And may you enjoy everyone of them in (reasonably - let's be practical) good health.

Thanks! Both my grandmothers lived to be 90+, and paternal DGM was up re-roofing the chicken house a couple of years before she died. I'm hoping those genes were passed along. My father lived to be 86, fairly old for his generation. My mother died at 57 from complications following a perforated ulcer so there's no knowing how long she *might* have lived with better medical care.

I would love to see my great-grand-children. Possibly even a G-G-Grandchild someday. :-)

I hope you've had a great day. One of the parts I love about the nuptial blessing we chose for our wedding is, "May they live to see their children's children." If the current generation follows the pattern of the last few, I could live into my 90s without seeing great-grand-children.

It's a day late, but Bizarro seems to have learned of your celebration:

Many happy returns! Remember you're only as old as you feel. I think the age on passports, driving licence etc is purely arbitrary - an accident of birth! This is from someone putting the spin on her upcoming birthday ending with a "0".

My younger DD and her DH took me out for dinner, I splurged on "Tour of Italy" AND dessert. ;-) The family has arranged for a Willamette River boat tour brunch on Sunday for combined Mother's Day and BD celebration.

I like your nuptial vows. I have lived to see my grandchildren, and if DGS follows his mother's and my timing, all I have to wait is another 7-8 years to see great-grands. ;-)

Thanks, Serge. I inherited some pretty good genes so with any luck at all I'll have some good years ahead of me.
