OT - Extreme weather

Hello to all my northern hemisphere friends. How are you coping in the extreme cold? Maybe you are stuck inside sewing madly. Hope things aren't too bad your way. In Australia we are going through our own extreme weather but with heat and floods.

It's freezing here! And windy!

Heading your way on Tuesday the 12th.....arriving in Auckland on the 14th for a cruise/ land tour of NZ and Australia. I don't want to see any floods, but the heat would be welcome! Where are you located?

It's cold here in the Hudson Valley. Viviane, Last evening we went to watch our favorite college women basketball team play. I bring this up because they have a freshman player from Sidney,AU. She is very tall,6'4", and becoming an excellent college player. Juno

Where I live, Houston, TX, has set a few cold records this week, but no snow, thank goodness. I'm staying inside till the temperatures get into the 50s, at least. Emily

Overnight our snow has almost vanished. It rained. Temperatures above freezing, so everything drips. Now we have mud underfoot rather than snow or slush. The cats hate it as much as the snow.

We have had rain yesterday and today. Yesterday there was still enough ice to cover the pavements (sidewalks) completely and occasional patches of black ice on the road surfaces so moving around was very tricky.

Today there are more ice free patches so walking is a little safer - good thing too as I have already dropped DS2 at his dancing class and then zipped into the next town and have been to the music shop (guitar case & strings for DS1), sewing shop (button thread for DS1's blazer buttons), hardware shop (kettle knobs for work) and the supermarket for food.

Having done all that I hope to find time to sit and finish a wallhanging this afternoon - it will only have taken 5 years! Though it has mostly sat in a bag waiting for me - with a bit of concentrated effort I could have finished it within a few weeks.

I have decided to start the year by clearing out some UFOs as I know I have other projects to start soon and this way I'll have a clearer conscience and workspace :-)
