I once went to a village in England that claimed to have the oldest maypole in existence in the UK. Ok, when it's not May Day it looks remarkably like a long bit of wood stuck in the ground, but I'm sure on May Day it looks wonderful all decorated up. I think May Day is a traditional time for the Morris Dancers to be let out; never able to watch them with a straight face. Yes I know it's an old tradition but the sight of grown men wearing bells, flouncing about with large hankies is just too much for my gravity.

But a Hapy May Day to all! Fay (Still no witty quote)

Thank you - and we do! Spent part of the weekend watching Morris Dancing in Rochester. :)

It's *supposed* to provoke that kind of reaction! :D

We go and giggle and watch and admire the skills of the groups of dancers that fill Rochester High Street every year for May Bank Holiday weekend, and between watching them we drink beer. :)
