OT : New store in town

Not to long ago we were talking about gadgets and I said I love hardware stores. A new one opened a couple of weeks ago right in the village. A real hardware store. Not Lowes, Not Home Depot, but a family owned store. The family has several stores around the area and decided to open one here. I'm in 7th heaven. Went over today and bought lots of things I've been needing for a while. Told DH I could spend as much money there as in a fabric store. He laughed and said no one needs a hardware store. Well I do. Ahh Juno, I too love hardware stores. Real ones. They are few and far between these days. Up until 10 or maybe 15 years ago now there was a place in Schenectady, Wallace Armer. Was no doubt he greatest place I ever have been in. You could find most anything there. Had been in business over 100 years. They had things in hidden cabinets behind walls. The one very notable accoutrement was a trolley system for paying. It was an overhead system. Any clerk in the store you found would write up a receipt on an order pad, insert it and your money into a box that then flew around the store on a cable and up to the cashiers office, shortly your change and receipt returned. Was a true delight.
