If I remember correctly, some time in the past you made some costumes out of a cotton/silk blend. What did you think of it and would it be suitable for a summer dress. I'm thinking ahead about fabric to buy. Juno
Very suitable. Mine was a lovely stripe - woven solid and semi-sheer, and we tea dyed it for the costume. It washed very well.

Not Kate, (obviously) Thaisilks.com had some lovely silk/rayon blend a while back, but I don't see it there at the moment. They do have a nice selection of silk/cotton blend:

I have too much else to do here, and need to save any fabric buying for serious frockage for next Fabruary, for a live action role play game that lasts all weekend, and for which I will need 3 chemises, a corset, two day gowns, and a ball dress suitable for an 18th C Venitian masked ball!
I choose the cranberry & teal, too, Juno. I may have to freak my self-promise not to buy any fabric till after winter is definitely gone.
My DS in SC had snow yesterday and DGD was very upset; she said it is not supposed to snow in March.

More of a game than a play... 3 days of sketchy outline plus improvisation, in costume, with a masked ball in the middle of it! All in a hotel in Yorkshire.
Your DGD feels that way because she doesn't live in the North East,. That's where we are known to get the worst storms of the year. It's been over a week and there are still people in our area with out power from the storm last Wednesday. We were fortunate in that we only went about
24 hours without electric. Got pretty darn cold around here. Back to sewing I'm considering using McCall's 6028 view D, in the teal fabric. It all depend on how well I think I can alter the patterns.I have to alter every area that could possible need fixing.Back width, back length, FBA and waist. That should keep me busy for awhile. Juno

I haven't made any final decisions. I just hope I don't bite off too much. I always feel I have to work very hard on my fitting issues and sometimes it makes me very timid. I know pipping isn't hard just a little extra oomph to the design. I know that if I don't stretch myself to get things right I'll be stuck in the rut I really want to break out of. Juno

A good reason to have a treadle sewing machine in the house. Not only is it decorative, and useful as a lamp table or bedside table, but when the power goes off, you can still sew! The treadling may even warm you up a bit. ;-)
See it's a sanity thing. I figure if I try more than one I'll really go over the edge. The dress is actually on hold for a bit. It's just that I saw that beautiful fabric and I'm thinking ahead. I always have to have futures. Don't be sorry. I'm a random thinker. Juno
