The OP wanted to know about printing on T-shirts, sizes of T-shirts, and fabric for T-shirts. All of these could be solved by a chat with a decent printer and a glance through his suppliers' catalogues.

I wonder if he/she has done any research on markets, mark-ups, cost of advertising, indirect costs and any of the little things that make a difference between a successful business and one that bleeds money. Maybe s/he's asking other newsgroups to supply that information :-[

To the OP: having an idea for a wonderful product isn't going to make you rich. You need to do a lot more research OF YOUR OWN and get a real feel for the market before you invest your money.

On the other hand, the newsgroup could select the t-shirts, the images, arrange with the printer, wholesale the shirts, and pocket the money. ;-) Pretty soon, we'll know the whole game plan and can take it and run with it. LOL.

Heh! Wouldn't it be cool to have alt.sewing t-shirts, buttons/badges and b-i-g tote bags?

Okay, listen. Think of alt.sewing as a sort of potluck of knowledge. We've got everything here from meat and potatoes to the most exotic specialties. If you're new in town or just passing through nobody is going to mind if you grab a plate. But when you come back repeatedly, and make special requests, and yet bring nothing to the table in exchange, people are going to get tired of you real quick. That's where you're at right now. Your free lunch pass just expired.

Her T-shirt queries are far more legit than than cackling about flooring, for eg., and undeserving of the quality of responses she's gotten so far, which are either shaming, sarcastic, or mean-spirited like yours.

Very cool!! Then in about a year, we could have shirts. I mean, it will take about 2 weeks for the shirts, and the rest for us all to agree and pay up......right? Meanwhile 43 people will drop the newsgroup, and

52 will start reading and feel a part of it.... gosh, haven't had that much fun since the hog ate junior.

I think for a group this size I would work with cafepress.com instead. They're pricey, but it is simple.

No bother to pass on ideas about where to find stuff out, but I do my own homework and see no reason to do it for others without being paid for it.

Depends. If the original poster (OP) had said something like "I'm starting up this new business, and I have no idea where to begin to look to find out these things" that would have been fine. S/he would have been given help and pointers to places to actually research that stuff, and people would have probably come up with other things the OP should think about.

But wandering in and asking "what's the best fabric for this?", etc; is expecting us to do his/her homework for them. That's not right (nor is it really sewing related).
