OT: A Good Deed

DH and I did our good deed for the year yesterday.

We had stopped by our vets office to pick up the heartworm preventative that we give Ajax every month. DH waited in the truck while I ran in to get it. On my way out of the office I noticed a flyer on the bulletin board for Dachshund puppies. When I got to the car, I told him about it and he had me go back in and write down the number.

His sister and her husband had to put down their Dachshund of many, many years early this year. Just recently my SisIL has been talking about getting another.

So DH called her and told her if she was interested we would go look them over. She lives 2-3 hours away from us. So we made arrangements to meet with the owner of the dogs after lunch...there were two male pups left.. In the intervening hour or so SisIL decided she might want them both.

We looked at the pups who are nine weeks old and seemed to be very well-formed and very social. DH called his sister who, of course, wanted them. We agreed on a price and took both the pups to Petco and outfitted them with a bed and carrier and more food (they already had a few toys and some food). DH left about 3:00 to drive to the ranch south of Rocksprings to deliver them. He made it back to San Angelo about 9:15 or so last night.

We talked to them this morning and everyone is very happy! They have names now, too: Sig and Edgar (from some TV show). I was pulling for "Hans and Fritz", but their not mine to name. They sure are cuties.

What a wonderful thing for you to do! Home for the babies, and your sister in-law is better off for your efforts!

Great, brought a smile to my face and many good memories.

My Aunt Virginia had 3 Dachsunds over the years. From as far back as I can remember until 3 or 4 years ago.

Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail
