Dear Katherine, there isn`t any ignorance in asking this question Haifa can`t be properly written in English . The H here stands for some times Ch or sometimes Kh , but in fact should be pronounced like the J in the Spanish JUAN , or the Gogh in the DUTCH van Goch , with a Guttural letter ,, Alas English doesn`t have .... OK, the reason I asked was because I just received a magazine from my church which mentioned "Jaffa", and I wondered if they are the same place.

Hi Katherine! Jaffa lies very close to Tel-Aviv, as far as I know. You can see it on this map: Tel-Aviv, Yafo. Haifa is 100-150 km further north.

I must say it is a relief to see you are OK! And, of course (;-) it is quite an experience to come in Guinness; many people fight hard for that, and the records are often very strange. I like that question /thought ,,, Jaffa is an old city biblical time ] Haifa is much more modern . Jaffa gave it`s name to a certain group of Oranges ,,, in fact we call it Jaffo .... like Akko [ not acre ] . Jaffo is near TelAviv , has a small fishing port , and is supposed top b e the birth place of one Venus ,,,, many places around the Mediterenean have the same asspiration. mirjam

Thank you Aud mm humour who has humour ?? i am just me , tonight as i went up to close the shutters i saw a beautiful white Ball of light ,,,, it occured to me that i haven`t looked at the sky night for 29 nights ,,, And what a delightful moon it is ... thank you for feeling relief at seeing me, the feeling is mutual . our mayor turned from a mere politician into a hero , tonight a tv show called him Juliano of Haifa .....
