Witch hat

Hi!

I found this German link on the Polish crafts newsgroup:

formatting link
only thing I can understand is that it's a "witch hat" and I think it's knitted. If you want to download the pattern click on "Anleitung hut aus pdf-format" (can't ganrantee I wrote it right). I searched for the English version and couldn't find it, sorry.

Isn't it lovely? :-)

Hi Anna Maria,

Very pretty and I agree it looks like it has been knitted.

I like that, Anna Maria! Really witch- like! I wish I had HER "witch-eye" too, then I had been very stylish! May be DD would like it? I have saved the pattern, it IS knitted. AUD ;-))

I'd love the pattern too... not for *this* Halloween, as I'd never get it done in time, but for future reference. If someone can find an English pattern for the hat, I'd appreciate it too, thank you!

After looking at this pattern for close to three hours, and using babelfish to no end, I think I may have translated it. I'm not positive about it, though, and I'm really unsure as to how much yarn it'll take, but I'm going to give it a shot, starting this weekend. I'll be sure to let you know how it turns out, since I LOVE the pattern, and am going to try my darnedest to finish it by Halloween!

Coggi, do you want me to send you what I have? Untested and all? I'd be glad to, if you'd like it...

Anastasia

Oh Thank you , Yes I will be a tester for your translation. I think this will be fun to wear while handing out candy this year. The link for my email is good from here. Thank you again. Coggie

Hi!

The pattern says 200 grams of Regia 100 m/50 g (this is the yardage).

200 grams is 7.025 ounces.

I would love to be of more help in translating the pattern, since it=20 would mean that I know German. Alas, that's not true :-( I can only=20 understand some words trough Swedish, that's all...

Other words I could understand:

Nadle: needle Nadlespiele: DPNs (I'm not sure of the English here) Knopf: button anschlagen: cast on M is for Maschen or something like that, meaning stitches. Gesamth=F6he: total lenght.

HTH,

Anna Maria

Hi Mirjam,

It didn't take any long time to me, don't know why they wrote so. I have an ADSL connection, that's true, but some pages ARE slow anyway. This was NOT the case. Who knows...

Anastasia, could you please share your translated pattern? I too would love to have it and give it a try. :o)

It is really nice: I can imagine it done with less of a point, and in a brighter colour - that would look good.

Gem, I've made a few mistakes in the initial translation, so I'm working up a model to see if my newest translation works right. So far, it's working MUCH better than the last one, so it might only be a day or two before I am able to send it off to you and Coggie.

German is a darned tricky language! They do weird things with their numbers....

Hi Anastasia!

On the Polish newsgroup there are some translations (into Polish, of course) of the pattern. It looks like to me (my Polish is so and so) that there are problems in the calculation of the stitches and the ladies there are talking about that.

If someone wants to have a look the newsgroup is:

pl.rec.robotki-reczne

and the thread is

czadowy kapeluszek na szydelku

I know that some ladies here are of Polish origin so it could be of some help.

Hugs,

Anna Maria
