Infinite dress

Does anyone here know anything about the Infinite dress? I found references to this whilst surfing.

I have posted this question on the "other" sewing group also.

I remember that dress - a friend had one of them - until she popped out of it at a dance! University sorority dance (I didn't do the sorority thing) and she had one of those dresses made. Really cute changes of style - as long as there was not too much movement and interaction needed! Anyway, she had a lot more 'woman' to her than I'll ever have and she showed a good half of it to her dance partner - and as luck would have it the partner for the dance was not her boyfriend! There's something to be said for stitching in place, zippers and the like! Cynthia

I enjoyed the history post for this dress. I brings back memories. I never bought this dress for the same reasons mentioned ... to much on top, but I though it was a great idea. I always regretted not buying the pattern for my pattern stash. I have 19 year old niece who is built like a model. I had forgotten about the dress. Now I think she would love to have one so if anyone knows where to get the old pattern, let me know.

Some amusing information there!

Unless the website is very old the dress is still available but the length is not given and the top looks very revealing!! I`d love to have the pattern, though.

I made one of these in the late 1970s. Very neat and convertible. Worked best with fabrics that had stretch and texture. Might look good in a black stretch velvet with rhinestones for the holidays. Extremely easy to make. Astrid

Where would I find the pattern? A DGD would like one for the holidays, she hinted the other day after her Mom(my DD) told her about one she had in the

70s. She took the pattern along with some others when she married and has long since lost it. Black stretch velvet with rhinestones would be stunning. Emily

Pick up some black safety pins! Or, as a friend who wears saris a lot said: "if you are going to be anywhere that you need to move a lot or there are little children it is well worth the time and money to get the folds sewn into place and snaps inserted" - and that was from a gal that could wrap a sari faster than I could do a napkin! There must be one pattern around, surely? I`d love one.

The truth is out there somewhere! :O)

I have the pattern number McCall's 5360 One size, one pattern piece. Uses 3 5/8 yards astrid stay in college to get the knowledge...if they can make penicillin from moldy bread I am sure they can do something with you.....M. Ali

Astrid, I would love to see a scan of that pattern, if only just to experiment with it. Is there any way you could scan the shape of the pattern piece(s) and the instructions?

Or could I just buy the pattern from you?

I am surprised that the Intimate dress hasn't been re printed in a retro collection from McCalls. I have looked for it on the discontinued pattern site but no luck. I bet one of you clever folk can find it. If you do -let us know!!

Please...this is a DISCUSSION group. No ads, please. =20

Just think how annoying it is to you to have your evening meal interrupted by a telemarketer. The feeling is the same when someone posts inappropriate commercial messages in a newsgroup. If in doubt, don't do it.

Only one patten? That doesn't help the other foot stay dry. Is it a right or a left, is the sole wood or cork, and is there rust on the iron ring? I don't want rust marks on my floor!

Don't tell me what to do with my face, and I won't tell you where to go.

I was imagining a pointy-toe birch patten with a hinge in the middle and nice straps with buckles. I suppose one could hop...
