It probably won't be 100% as good as a regular pan, but I think it will work. Eggs have a way of sticking to just about everything. Unless you are entering a contest, you don't have much to lose except for a few eggs, some sugar, and your time.

My regular aluminum tube pan is packed for moving and I only have a teflon- coated tube pan available for baking. If it's scrupulously clean and oil free (a la dishwasher) will it work for an angelfood cake?

Yes, but being darker it may not need as much cooking time - I think darker pans need less time to cook. (??)
