OT - cookware, and cheap!

Amazon.com is having some kind of massive clearance sale on Cuisinart Chef line cookware! I just needed a new 3qt saute because the handle on my 15-yo one (from the Bon Marche) is coming loose, so after scanning eBay and doing Froogle searches I tried Yahoo. $29.99, and *free shipping*! Whoa. Sure, it's not All-Clad (my fave) but All-Clad is popular right now, and hence expensive. Cuisinart (which has been owned by Conair since the early 90's) has three lines; the Everyday, with welded handles and a copper sandwich bottom which is superficially the same as their previous Professional line but of lower quality, the Chef's Classic, with riveted handles and an aluminum sandwich bottom, and the Multiclad, which is their newest entry aimed at competing with All-Clad and Calphalon Pro. Although Amazon has the Everyday line very inexpensively as well, and it's decent cookware, it's the prices on the Chef's Classic that are really amazing. I'm fond of riveted handles because even though they're a trifle harder to clean around, they're the most durable option out there. And I hate replacing things!

Next: a 2qt saucepan with steamer and double boiler inserts.

Wow Kalera, you sound like quite the chef. Thanks for doing the research. I'm going to have to go check it out. I had Calphalon and didn't like them too well.

Calphalon is hard to season.

I'm less a chef than a former cookware salesperson... though of course my family eats a lot, too. :)
