I need help. I am trying to convert a .pes file to a .dst so I can have a commericial embroidery company do a large run on a design I made in Layout & editing. BUT I can't get my Customizer software to recognize the .pes as a valid file. I have really our files that I made that will open. Did I miss some update along the way. I have been out of sewing and embroidering for the past couple of years. Thanks.

What "Customizer" and what version number do you have - Viking/Pfaff? Janome? some other? For Viking/Pfaff, older versions don't handle Pes at all. The latest versions are fine; in between there's at least one version that lets you OPEN a pes file (from the File /Open menu) but you can't associate PES with Customizer and double-click on a .pes file in explorer. It just doesn't work with that version.
Where did the .pes file come from? Can the program that created it "save as" or "export" to .dst format?
Do you have a complete Viking package that includes one of their conversion programs? Or whatever program you have, have you tried the "import" function if it has one instead of "open"?
You could download a fully working trial (limited by number of uses or date) of Embird, which can do conversions.

If all else fails, you could post your design at alt.binaries.crafts.pictures and someone would be glad to convert it for you.

Sorry - I read your message but NOT the subject line :( Ignore everything except the Embird and posting suggestions :)
