I have something I use to protect my stored glass from attacks of all sorts. I don't have to worry a bit about alkaline attacks. Or acidic ones, for that matter.

And I can store all my glass flat, or vertical, or all the scraps in tubs or boxes. It's a really neat system, you should try it sometime.

It's called four walls and a roof.

You wonder why they're all afraid to post here. You're a scary guy Moon.

Always wondered? Who are "they" , as in "they're all afraid...." "they" can't see the expression on a face on the internet, how do "they" know how the phrase was intended? The words themselves aren't too awful fearful. It isn't insulting anyone. No name calling involved, (that will probably start with the next reply). Just thought I should take it around a bit of curve toward the "off topic" direction. I have big shoulders, I can stand being chastised for doing so. Actually, I don't care.....

But I just wondered who "they" were.

I'm assuming "they" are folks like me -- new to the craft and this newsgroup -- whose first impression is of an unwelcoming community with a maturity level of a teenager.

Hurray for kill files.

OH, shit, forgot to be sensitive!!

For gosh sakes, toughen up a little, the whole world doesn't give a damn about sensitivities. I haven't seen anything, except maybe the Brady crap,(kill filed him myself long ago, your right! hurray) that would bother anyone with an adult maturity, some of it is not meant seriously, so when people take it that way, I run with it. For those that are expecting detailed answers to minor to questions they are to lazy to do any personal research on, oh friggin' well. This is the internet, not that anyone has to be rude, but to expect the sensitivity of a personal conversation is not very realistic. and who cares anyway!!? Should I care if Ray kill files me? Not hardly, he can pound sand for all I care, don't know him, don't miss him in my life. If you can't stand the heat, stay the hell out of the kitchen.

Having said that, when I have seen a question that someone has that I have the answer for or can at least be helpful with , in my experience, I post it. Seriously and with dignity toward the topic and poster. When I see something stupid, I "used to" jump on them too. Now I simply don't care, in fact this topic is worth no more of my time or thought.

BUT, to stay on the OP topic, what is wrong with Moon's answer?

If you care enough about the material you buy, to scour the internet and ask every one that posts "where can I get the best deal where I am at?" why in the world would you store it somewhere that it can be attacked by anything??? Youghiogheny stores all their glass OUTSIDE YEAR AROUND!! in PA Kokomo stores their glass in unheated huge high ceilinged barns! in IN both snow/cold states, Lins, made in FL,now closed, used to store it in a small rooms, out of the sunlight and rain, but open to big bugs! that got squished between sheets, (it wipes off) . Never heard any of them mention anything about abnormalities on their glass. I store all my glass under a roof, inside 4 walls, and have no problems, with any color, transparency, or texture.

Now why is Moon's answer so scary again?

If your new and that scares you, better stay away...it only gets better..

Aw, gee. Sniff.

Do you recall the thread a while back where the young lady was interested in buying an existing store? She got lots of honest, thoughtful advice from many of us. People who ask legitimate technical, business, or artistic questions get treated just fine.

I don't see this group as much different than any other on Usenet.

Poor Ray. He needs to put his big-boy panties on, and deal with it. He's a lurker, whose first post was to complain about the group being unwelcoming? Sheesh. I didn't know we were supposed to send lurkers bouquets and bon-bons. If he's got something to ask or something to suggest as a technique, hey, go for it. If he doesn't like the banter back and forth between folks who have been on this board for years, well, BFD. Buh, bye. My business won't suffer one bit.

Okay, who sells the Purina Troll Chow? I need a bag.

If you're going to troll at least get the facts straight. That wasn't my first post, and I told you I was new to the group -- therefore, not a lurker. I've given answered two questions to the best of my ability in the short time I've been reading. As for this particular thread, I was simply answering Javahut's question (Who "they" were).

I wasn't whining about myself, I was just making an observation with fresh, newbie eyes. I've been an internet citizen for 13 years now so my skin is well-thickened. This sort of behavior just bounces off, and I know how to ignore it / take it in stride. I also know better than to feed the trolls, but oh well.

Oh, excusssssseeeeeee me. I must have missed your first two sterling posts. So you waited until your 3rd post to comment on the "behavior".

If you right click "rec.crafts.glass" in your newsreader, you can then click on unsubscribe and everything will be just perfect in yer world, eh?

There ya go Ray, but what is with the trolls...s... plural? Is there more than one!

and I, for one, want to make it clear, I never said Ray was whining. JK was whining.

I said I didn't care if Ray used his kill file on me.......

Sometimes EVERYONE needs to sit back and not take this s--t so darn seriously. Nothing that is said/posted here means the square root of s--t. and yes, I use that word alot lately, cause that is what it is. I guess the word nonsense should be substituted, but takes too long to spell it.

What the hell the square root of soot?

Spend a couple weeks in alt.atheism, that will toughen you up. Sort of like being in Detroit, only faster. ;)

Fish on.

Do they really have 20" Walleye in the Great White North?

sootier?

Detroit!! I vacation there, right off Cass Ave., how'd you know, you must be a former local?

NO time, even sold the darn boat last week, I was catch more and bigger Walleye in the Maumee River, haven't had the boat wet on the bottom in 2 years and figured somebody could use it. I can actually save money by taking a charter!

toward Port Clinton, OH, but the Saginaw Bay is supposed to go nuts this year and next.

When you comin' to say hi?

That's whining to you Java? Man this is a tough crowd alright Ray. Even I get jumped on by my friends for gently pointing out a few things!

Was back for a visit and parked a rental, a nice one, on Cass Ave, going to see a show at Alvin's. We walked about a block when my buddy said he had to go back to get his sunglasses. It's night time, we're going to a bar. What do you need sunglasses for? "They're prescription, the car likely won't be here when we get out".

My boys just moved up to Traverse City. Staying on Long Lake. Claimed a

24" Walleye but I think they're full of shit.

The first chance I get. Who knows when that will be.
