bronze soldering iron tip

Can a bronze rod be used for a soldering iron tip?

I've used plain copper rod. It tends to get "eaten" if you use acid fluxes but it's easy to file down again. I've made T shape bits by hard soldering two rods together.

I have used brass sheet and rod to make custom shapes and special tools used in a soldering iron for shaping wax and plastic.
