Hello.
Can anyone suggest a source of information concerning the coloring of glass by heat treatment ?
In particular, I am interested in processes where heating is used to produce fine colloidal particles inside the glass material, that cause intense optical absorption bands. The thermally induced reaction that produces the colloidal particles is called striking.
Some examples are:
- gold-ruby glasses
- copper-ruby glasses
Also, I would like to know if there are suppliers of this kind of glass, in the untreated / colorless condition ?
Many thanks Lino
