Have you use the over dyed threads

I wondering about the bleeding from the thread, if any. Also how they work on linen 36 count.

I cannot tell you anything about bleeding. It may depend on the specific overdyes you are using. As to use, they work on any canvas count. There is a difference of opinion as to whether you should always do one stitch at a time with overdyes. This is certainly my preference. I think you see the "right" sort of effect of the color, and it does not look right to me if you do a whole lot of bottom parts of the crosses, and then complete them. HTH.

Bleeding probably depends on precisely which brand and which colors. I don't usually have any problem with bleeding, but you'd be wise to test. Whether it will work out 36 count linen depends in which particular fiber you're using (and how many strands, if relevant). There are certainly many overdyes that would work well on 36 count linen (or most any other count you'd like to use).

I would check any overdyed threads to see if they were color fast before stitching with them. Wet a length of it and put it in paper towel. If it bleeds it should be evident on the towel. I've had personal experience with Caron's Watercolors and Wildflowers bleeding. How they would work on 36 ct. depends on what threads you are planning to use. Most threads like Needle Necessities and Gentle Arts Sampler threads give the same coverage as regular floss.

I have been told not to wash overdyed threads do to hand dying. Better to check with the manufacters first. Or your stitching stores. I have used a lot of over dyes and have also washed one from weeks and gentile they did run a bit and I had to soak them in cold water. It just wasnt worth it so now I make sure I don't touch food or be around anything that could stain it and wash my hands frequently.

I give them all a good soaking in cold water before using them. I don't believe in handling my XS as if it were fragile and going to fall apart in a breeze. If it can't take a little abuse, I won't use it. Fie on that TLC nonsense. :-Þ~ Darla Sacred cows make great hamburgers. Picture Trail Gallery:
