OT - First Wooly Worm of the season Spotted!

Was leaving the house early this AM to take Rosie (long haired, pot-bellied cat) for her hair cut, and near the rear tire of the Jeep was my first-sighted wooly worm

the season. The bands were evenly distributed, each 1/3 of it's length!I picked it up and tossed it into the yard so I wouldn't run over it (they're too cute!)

When I got back, I had to bring the trash cans in from the curb (Friday's is trash pickup day in our area), and stopped and pulled some weeds from the garden, and cuddled up around one of the weeds were THREE MORE!!!! I left that weed (dandelion) as they were using it as shelter (or food?).

This is probably one of the very few places that caters mostly (note I said mostly) to women, that thinks a furry, creepy crawly, is too cute. And I do agree that it's cute and isn't remotely as yucky as some of the crawlies here in the hot, wet south.

There have been a few of these little guys around here also. We used to have a lot that were just as plump but they were yellow with black ends. Not sure what they were called and haven't seen them in years. We also see the odd spotted tussock and virginian tiger moth but none this year. There are a few at
