Pet Food Recall!!

Please forgive me for not posting this as off topic. People who filter off topic posts might not have heard about this.

Menu Foods is announcing a multiple brand (both name and store brand) wet pet food recall. At least 10 animals have died.

Here's the website for affected brands and information.

Being so overwhelmingly flummoxed by His Highness, Puff, my Maltese, who treats me like house staff, I would definitely stand up for you in a fight for your right to post this any way you want. It definitely is important enough to attempt to get everyone's attention and to hell with those who think you were wrong not to mark it OT.

Fortunately Puff only eats Prescription Science Diet foods and they aren't on this list.

You're welcome. I figured there might be quite a few animal lovers on the group some who might be blocking off topic posts. If I helped one person not lose their pet it was worth the dressing down I got in email from another newsgroup member.

Take care, Jeri :o)

For those readers in the UK there is a very handy website where you can sign up and they will then email you whenever a product recall in the UK is announced.

Well if they didn't have the balls to say it in front of us all, it's not worth heeding ! What a cowardly thing to do.

Good for you, Jeri - ignore the small minded! Obviously not an animal lover.

Yes, it's quite handy. They don't get absolutely every UK recall, just those passed to them by manufacturers or trading standards people. I usually get one or two notifications per month, and there's a list of recalls (by category of goods) on their webpage.

If I helped one person not

If you are that person who's reading this, you are mean spirited. What else are these groups good for, if not to pass on helpful info? Instead of dressing Jeri down, you could've better used the time to forward the info to pet owning friends --- if you have any.

Thanks a million for this post Jeri,

I was using one of the brand names listed, but only the dry pet food. This latest animal poisoning has led me to buying 'people grade' liver and cheaper cuts of meat meant for human consumption and mixing it with veggies, cream of wheat, leftovers and table scraps for my dogs meals. They've never been healthier. If you google pet food recalls, you'll be surprised at the long lists!

When something this widespread and deadly is happening ,you have my full support for not listing it off topic.I don't get the daily paper and if someone had not emailed me about it and my cat had been eating the food I would be very upset. My DC 's food is not on the list and he only eats dry food but when I went to the vet's to buy some of his food, they had more cat patients than usual with kidney problems. I have lost a cat to kidney problems and it is not a nice way to go. N
