Thanks for the offer Wendy. We would have fun. I'm going to try and convince a few of my friends to help out if I need to pin the whole thing again this weekend.

I've thought of that, but they seem so awkward. Have any of you ever used one?
Maureen
They work great. Not at all awkward.
I use one called a Kwik Clip, and it really is great. I'm left-handed, so I hold the pin in that hand and the KC in my right hand and just pin and close like crazy. My left hand does get a bit sore from holding those skinny pins, but it's always fine again in a little while. :)
Howdy!
I work cheap, Maureen; come on over, we'll pin-baste that quilt.
R/Sandy--I'm cheap but I'm easy
It suddenly occurs to me that any quilter (putting quilting before all else, as we all know we must do) who might be in the market for a new dining room table (which is apt to be drafted as a pin basting table at any time, of course) has a really good argument for insisting on getting a *glass topped* table.
Pin a section, lay down on the floor and slide under the table and know how it looks *before* picking it up and possibly messing it up.....
What's not to like?

What a great idea, Piglet! I love it!
What's not to like? Lying down on the floor and getting back up again. LOL

Then I'm definitely going to have to look into finding one. I've got a bunch more tops to quilt before the guild's show in March.
Since I'll have to spend most of next week in Chicago for work, I guess my fingers will have a chance to recover.

I'm going to look for that. If it will save my fingers and its easy to use, it will be worth it.

That has never occurred to me. But could you see the looks we'd get from hubbies/BFs/kids/neighbors as were sliding around on the floor?
Maureen
Fingers recovered pretty well. I use a grapefruit spoon to help close the pins, it is a great help.
Well, look on the bright side, you only have to unpin and re-pin half of it. Good thing you used pins! Wish I could come over and help :-) Roberta in D

LOL! Good idea, Ms. Pig. Would also transform into a light box. ;-P
My grandma refused to have a glass-top "eating" table; "I don't want to look at anyone's feet while I'm eating!" she said. This is the same grandma who moved household every 3 or 4 yrs most of her life. She just liked to change floor plans (may explain why my mother has always rearranged the furniture every few weeks ). Grandma died a couple of months ago, age 94. I have one of her last quilts (she could piece, but her sisters were the quilters in the family ).
R/Sandy-- from a long line of "Characters"
I'd like to have that kind of friend! Good luck - this has happened to me many a time... most likely because I don't want to scratch my wooden floors, so I am not paying enough attention to the quilt when I do the pinning!
