Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm fried Spam. Mmmmmmmmmmmm grilled Spam. Yummy either way.

My odd food discovery: Cubed bologna is good in spaghetti with tomato sauce. I just added the bologna to the sauce while it was cooking, just like I do with other meats, and it turned out great tasting. I would never have known it was so good if I hadn't been trying to make do with what I had in the kitchen. Debra in VA See my quilts at

I have a 1957 cookbook of my Mom's that I borrowed for her fruitcake recipe. (Yes, I know...I'm one of only 12 people on the planet who actually loves fruitcake. :) Just inside the front cover are instructions for how to remove lettering and logos from flour sacks before using for sewing projects. :)

When I was married many moons ago, my aunt gave me a quilt that her mother had made for her hope chest. It's a sailboat pattern made of bleached flour sacks and a pale blue cotton. Though the blue has faded over the years, it's still one of the most treasured quilts I own. I guess that this quilt was made around the Depression years, and it's always a reminder to me that something beautiful can come of something very simple.

Thanks for the reminder. :)
