looking for pattern suggestions

I have been collecting fabric that has gold thread through it, its mostly fall colors, with deep reds, turquise, greens, blues. So, I love the material but have no clue as to a pattern. Anyone have any suggestions? I think I have enough for a full size quilt. Thanks in advance! Oh, and the marathon is next weekend!!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES!!! So, next sunday send good thoughts to my feet! Are they FQs?

How about a stack'n'whack stained glass quilt?

Sounds like a Maple Leaf Quilt is in order (and with Thangles or other Triangle paper -- the blocks won't be hard at all!)

Something like one of these maybe:

(bottom row - center) No matter what you do -- the fabrics sound gorgeous -- and I'm sure your quilt will be as well!

There is a leaf block, similar to bear paw that looks lovely in those colors. You can twist and turn the blocks so that it looks like leaves falling from the trees. I made one with that as the background. Give me a minute and I'll take a pic and post it in Webshots.

Leslie, that is beautiful! I love how you made a tree to frame the leaves. How did you make the tree?

Jan-

First I made the maple leaf quilt complete thru the quilting, but didn't bind it and set it aside while I made the trunk. I drew the trunk shape on brown fabric, did the "fancy" stitching, layered the trunk fabric with Warm & Natural and quilted the trunk. I cut around the outline about 1/4 in. from the line. Then the tough part..... I laid the trunk over the left side of the maple leaf quilt, laid more brown fabric behind the entire thing and straight stitched on the outside line of the trunk, trimmed the top side of the trunk very close to the stitching line, then trimmed the brown fabric on the back very close to the stitching line and bound the edges of the Maple Leaf quilt just up to the edge of the trunk. Then I satin stitched around the raw edges of the trunk and added some more quilting to the trunk. It wasn't difficult but rather confusing to figure out when and how to do each step.

I checked the label on the back- 1999. I guess I should get busy and finish the other three seasons??? I bought all the fabric for all four seasons way back in 1999. Sheesh!

Glad you liked it- thank you.

If you ever finish the other seasons I would love to see them.

I thought the same thing, especially with those rich colors. There are some PP maple leaf patterns out there, if you're into PP. :)
