OT: Apples....dealing with them and can I freeze them?

It's a good thing you guys are here. After reading the post mentioning the peeler I dug mine out. Mine peels and cores. The corer (it that a word?) was at the bottom under the manual, still in it's wrapper LOL. I remember from previous tries that it doesn't do crabapple size. About 25% of my apples have to be trimmed as it misses the ends, but hey I'll take it. Works slick for the bigger ones. I'll have my apples done before I know it!!! (yeah right)

No more cramped hands due to apples.........I'll let my rotary cutter cramp the hand!!! (had to work in on topic somehow :))

Mine is from a company called "back to basics". I know years ago you could purchase one through the Sear farm catalog. I don't know if they still have them or not but you may find one in a kitchen gadget store or catalog. I got mine at Sam's Club a number of years ago... One of my favorite gadgets. (other than quilting gadgets that is)

my suggestion is apple cake. I've got a recipe that when it's made up will freeze well (and it's great tasting even when it's frozen! I know I've eaten it!) if anyone wants the recipe let me know -I'm willing to share! Lisa

I Have a great recipe. It's one of our favorites in the fall. Warm Apple Syrup

3/4 cup plus 2 tsp. apple juice, divided 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey 1 1/2 cups chopped peeled apple 2 tsp. cornstarch

Combine 3/4 cup of apple juice, apples and all the syrup into a 1-qt saucepan. Place over medium heat, and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until apples are tender. Combine the cornstarch and the remaining 2 tsp. of apple juice in a small bowl. Add the mixture to the pan, and cook and stir for 1 minute or until mixture is slightly thickened. Serve warm over pancakes, waffles ot french toast. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Thicken a little more and use over ice cream, layered with pudding or as a filler for a cake. It's wonderful!!!
