Quilting question

LOL! What you do to your thread is not my problem! But why would anyone use straight pins for basting? Maybe once -but after the hands heal, and after getting all those pins off the floor/ out of the carpet, most people would invest in safety pins, right? Roberta in D

For example, I may know where I want SITD, but not what I want to do in open areas. No point in delaying the SITD while I think about what to do in other parts. Usually while I am working, I'll get some ideas about the rest of the quilting; if I put the quilt away while I thought about it, I'd probably forget about it.

I hope these links work for you. I have never bought from Joann's online, but I did find the gun and stuff there. If you already buy things from other online craft or quilting stores you should search those stores first.

Not sure. But in many references marking, unless done with something like chalk, is mentioned as being done before layering. Easier to mark on just the top????? I have never done any quilting that way, but------ i tend to do things "differently" anyway. Sometimes I don't even mark at all, just sort of eyeball the lines and such. Figure that is what some of my ancestors did to.

As to Scottsdale....I'm almost at the Glendale city limits. But do make it over to Scottsdale on occasion. How far depends on where and when (distances frequently measured in units of time around here. )

Howdy!

I mark in the hoop, w/ the marking pen or masking tape. Simple and easy, like me.

Looking at a map of the Phx. area, looks like nothing is too far from anything else, city-wise. Of course, living midst the Ft.Worth-Dallas Metroplex nothing seems "far", it's all measured in time, according to the time of day and traffic patterns.

Have been telling B-fly "I wanna' see" but she's not picking up the hints. How's early March in your area? Cool? Warm? Windy?

Dang! It's terrible when your friends know you too well!!!!!!

Oh, I'm sorry, digging holes just isn't on this agenda; maybe next time. LOL Altho... making holes in your stash... hmmm.... (psst: Ginger! which box holds the greens?)

Won't be long before we'll all be working on the rose beds, sooner for some of us. ;-)

LOL I guess there will be as much discussion on marking quilts as on basting them and every thing else involved.

The Phoenix metro area is fairly large....but not quilt as large as the Dallas-Ft. Worth metro. The biggest problems are sometimes the mountains and the Canal, which means that there may not be a direct line from "here" to "yonder". And you never know until you try. sigh.

Early March is usually pretty good weather. As I say, the weekend of March 17 is the quilt show here.
