Does anyone know if the Janome 6600 or any other machine has the rotary hook, not oscillating??
Thanks!
will do - I love 'shopping' for everyone. Just ask Queen of Squishies. I was perusing ebay, not long after Karen had said she NEVER finds the good deals. I saw an almost ending auction for some vintage bow tie blocks, emailed her the link and she bought it! So checking out machines not only for myself but for my friends on rctq will be a joy.

Does the Quest have an automatic thread cutter? I looked at the info at the Baby Lock webiste
Mickie (who has to post thru Google again, what's up with that???)
No it doesn't have a thread cutter, which is the only thing I found lacking. The rest of the machine is perfect for me, so I guess I'll keep using scissors. I don't remember if I sewed backward or not I don't use backstitching much, esp. if the machine has a lock stitch, which it does. Gen
I am going next week to try out the Babylock Quest....at the same dealer Gen ordered hers from. I am really looking forward to trying all the features. I guess I should make a list of the things we want to know so I can write it all down and report back. :-)
I did ask if it has the rotary hook and YES it does, that was one feature I was interested in.
Any thing else you want to know about the machine? I will be trying out some others the dealer thinks I might be interested in. I doubt it but hey, let him give it his best shot!!

Hi,
Just read your mail and wonderedif you have tried the Bernina - it seems tobe a really good machine although I am not an authority. In the UK we dont seem to have the same support as you doin the Usa - I love tovisit to hit the shops - its great.

That is a great looking machine. I'm looking for a front loading bobbin, though. I've purchased and am using the Flynn quilt frame and it's a huge relief to be able to change the bobbin without taking apart the frame. I'm gradually learning what I want in a machine! Musicmaker
I haven't seen a Bernina that has a 9 inch or longer arm, is there one? I currently have a Bernina 1000 but one drawback is that there is no Bernina dealer/servicer within about 100 miles. Musicmaker
Nope, I teach for a free motion quilting for a Bernina dealer and there is no such animal as far as I can find. That is why I am looking elsewere. Rumor has it there might be something along that line coming out next summer but I'm sure not looking for it.

Please tell me the one we take ours to hasn't closed up already. Arrrgh.

Please let me know Marsha - it looks pretty interesting to me. Does it have the needle down postion when you stop sewing? Are the feet (and how many are there?) plastic or metal?

Good questions Sharon, I will make me a check list and let you know. My cousin, Sandra, wants me to also look into the Husqvarna Sapphire
870. This is giving me a lot of good ideas and will give all of us some good information. Of course, I will try to stick with the facts but I will also have my own opinion (such a surprise!) about how the machine sounds, if I feel it is cheezy or whatever.Piece,
