Embossing on Dark Cardstock with brass stencils

Hello Everyone

I need help. I have to make wedding invitations for a friend. The cardstock is Bazzil Basic Paper , colour Maraschino ( kinda terracotta red) . Anyways, the problem is that the design was to be made using embossing with a brass stencil. However, due to the dark colour, light from the lightbox (Merry Glo Round) is not able to pass through and the design of the brass stencil cannot be seen.

Does anybody have any tips/techniques/solutions on how to emboss on dark cardstock ?? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Have you tried running them through a sidekick or machine like that? Sometimes that will work with the embossing.

This has worked very well for me - I lightly tape the stencil to the "right" side of the cardstock (just enough to keep it in place, but not enough to ruin the cardstock when you remove the tape). Then I flip the cardstock over and use either a bone folder or the stylus and run it back and forth over where the design should be. You will be trying to get just enough of an outline of the design to come through so you can see where to emboss.

Good luck!

Great idea! I will have to try that. I was wanting to emboss snowflakes on dark cardstock and was unsure of how to do it. I don't have any embossing plates for my diecut machine. Thanks, Sandy

I have the cuttlebug snowflake embossing plate and i love it. If you want my old one I will send it to you Sandy.... I just bought a new one. The old one works fine I just did a pice of shrink art in the oven and threw it on there to see if it would emboss it but no go on that. Would you like it?
