help please from all you talented ladies

Hi, I am thinking about putting an album together for my grandma for christmas this year. She is 71 and has 12 grandkids, and we are all over the united states, I want to include them all in the album, kinda a GRANDMA album of sorts, do any of you talented ladies have any suggestions on how I should get started, any suggestions at all would be great or if you have links to share I woud be forever grateful :) Thanks in advance to all of you. I've never done an album like this, but that won't stop me from giving input. LOL I guess it would depend on what you want to focus the album on. Do you want it to focus on her, her accomplishments, her heritage, etc? Or do you want it to focus on her grandkids? You could always do a 6 x 6 album of pics of her grandkids. Maybe even have each grandkid send you a little note to include with their page, an "I love you grandma because..." type thing. HTH!

I second that motion! LOL That is exactly what I was thinking as well...if you wanted to do about the grandkids and stuff a 6x6 or an 8x8 album would be great and have a current picture of each of them and something handwritten by them to her. This would also be an "easier" album than if you had to try to gather a lot of information on her and get it all into an album within a month, although I am sure some people could get it done! :) An album celebrating her life is also great, but IMO a lot more work and effort would be put into that and I know I couldn't get that done by christmas! :)

I would do them from the oldst to the yourngest with age appropriate embelishments. I'd include their parents name, birthdate. I might even put in a map of the US with a brad holding a piece of ribbon that went off the map where in a tag of some sort I would write the city and name of who lives there. If that makes any sense!

As a grandma myself, I know I would love to have an album of not only my grandchildren's pictures but also poems written by them or stories about time we spent together or something we did that they remember. Trust me--you cannot mess up. I can promise you she will love it and think you are the most thoughtful, talented granddaughter in the whole world.

Hi Tracy!

What a lovely Christmas Present Idea! How about a "now and then" theme for the album? Baby pics with the relevant info like date of birth, parents names etc, and then a current pic with the current info and a message by each grandkid.

Good luck and enjoy!

If the grandkids are still pretty young have them answer a questionnaire about Grandma. I did this with my only asking questions about Santa. I'd ask things like where does he live? How old is he? How much do you think he weighs? The answers were hilarious! Instead of the kids saying "I don't know." They'd answer everything like they knew. I'm thinking if Grandma has a sense of humor she'd love it.

Have the other grandkids send pictures and memories and include those.

I did an album like this for my Grandma last year and she loved it. I encluded a family tree, a page for each of us and a letter from each of us to her. Don't know if this helps but I hope it does.

As a grandma if the kids are little I would love to see pictures, there own handwriting, and pic they have drawn. If they are older I'd like prom pic, sports pic and other events I missed. Lin

Hey M-C....... I love the idea of the map, if I have it right that is, it was a bit confusing the first time I read it...but I think I got it now...will post the album when I finish it. Thanks for your ideas. Tracy

Thanks. I have decided that I will contact them all and have them write in their own handwriting some cherished childhood memory with grandma, a letter or just their thoughts. Thanks again for your ideas and suggestions. I am hoping it turns out as well as I imagine it. Tracy

The grandkids age range is 33 the oldest (ME) to 18 so I am having them write something in their writing and words, and using a pic of them as babies and one of them now. Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it Tracy
