Is crepe paper ink acid free?

I know that sounds crazy, but is crepe paper ink acid free? A suggestion came through my inbox via an email list I'm on. It's crazy, but sounds cool. Basically, you take crepe paper strips and lay them on cardstock. Then spray the strips with water to get the ink to bleed onto the cardstock. If water doesn't work, you can use alcohol, it just depends on the ink in the crepe paper. I thought it sounded cool for a background, but is crepe paper ink acid free? Anyone know?

Hi. I'm not sure and when I'm not sure I whip out my "acid free" spray and spray it just to be on the safe side. The spray can be found in the scrapbook aisle in Michaels or JoAnns. I'm sure your LSS carries it.

Deb - that sounds like a neat idea!

I actually would doubt it is acid free - however, I think Kate is right that the apray might help. Also, when I first got into this (with creative memories) I was taught that if the rest of what you use is acid free, it can act as a buffer. Good luck! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Thanks ladies for your suggestions. I think sometime I'll hunt down some of the acid free spray, and maybe even try some acid free tissue paper, too. I just like making my own backgrounds and thought the idea was cool.
