Versamark vs resist

Resist/VersaMark/Embossing pads basically do the same thing. Just be sure to buy a refill to keep it juicy. One way to use them is to ink up a stamp with it and stamp on glossy cardstock. Using a brayer, roll it several times in the same direction on a large watercolor ink pad then over and over on the glossy cardstock in one direction. When your finished just rub the cardstock with a tissue. The original stamped image will not be colored. Another resist is crayons. Just rub any color crayon on glossy cardstock in places you don't want color then use markers or a brayer to color in everything and rub the crayon off with a tissue. It's like a mask. Hope this helps. I personal like the VersaMark best.

I use the VersaMark most of the time and also the Perfect Pearls Medium, since they are usually both on the table when I use Perfect Pearls.

I made a boo boo one day got a lil bit of ink on the tiny VersaMark so when I use it to stamp on cardstock I can see an image a lil bit but that's ok since it will be covered w/embossing powder anyway.

Coat scissors with v-pad for non-stick properties...great when mounting stamps!

Clean stained stamps then coat w/ v-pad, let sit...then clean with mist on clean up pad...lifts off Basic Black stains!

Use refill in empty wheel cartridge for same techniques

Use VersaMarker for same techniques, but with the feasibility of free hand.

Brayer resist...stamp in v-pad (let dry) then brayer over with Spectrum pad...leaves white-ish image tone on tone on any color cardstock...make sure pad is well-inked; I always encourage customers to get the refill...you want pad to come up with stamp...needs to be sticky! If not, this technique won't work as well

Pullin Pastels...rub pastels onto dark cardstock as a BG, then stamp with v-pad inked stamp...will lift off pastels and leave dark image

Use with heat & stick and add flocking, glitter or Pearl Ex

stamp image with Versa Mark, apply Pearl Ex, brushing most off, apply spray fixative or hairspray.

Use to coat stamps when imprinting into melted EP or glue sticks or fun foam, etc...stamp will release easier

I love showing the Background stamps - brayered with VersaMark - and then chalk over it with the pastels -

THEN use Interference Gold Pearl Ex over that. Saves so much cleaning when everyone can use whatever color they want with one ink - Plus the sheen from the Pearl Ex is subtle yet elegant. I have my customers use

Use in Place of the Top Boss Embossing Ink - Use like you would the Top Boss. Just stamp and emboss with colored powder or clear powder for a see through shine. Works great!

Clear Emboss Resist - Use VersaMark to heat emboss it with clear embossing powder on white, vanilla, naturals, confetti, kraft or any soft colored paper. Then sponge over the clear embossed image with desired ink color, and watch the image appear like magic!

Poppin' Pastels - There are two ways to accomplish this effect on light colored card stocks. Apply chalks to the area to be stamped; stamp with VersaMark and allow to dry or use heat gun. Then gently rub with a clean cotton ball. You can obtain a dramatic effect by adding more chalk to a cotton ball or dauber after you stamp with the VersaMark. You could emboss with clear embossing powder while the stamped image is still wet and the image will jump out at you!

Stamp first; then chalk gently over the stamped area and watch the image "magically" appear.

Shadowing - This is a technique that works best with Kaleidacolor pads and word stamps, but any type ink or stamp will be fine. Stamp an image with coloured ink; then stamp directly over it with versa mark. Because you will seldom be exact in the placement of the second image, you will make a "shadow" that gives the initial image a 3-D effect. You can take this method a step further by embossing with a transparent powder like Pearl or Iridescent Ice.

Embossing on Glass - Use the Embossing Buddy first on your glass to remove any static electricity. Use the VersaMark to stamp an image onto a glass container; emboss with detail gold or silver. Fill your glass container with candy and tie a ribbon on it. Makes a very impressive gift!

Discreet Journaling Lines - Although the VersaMark ink is sticky when applied, it dries like regular ink and loses the stickiness. It is Acid-free and therefore safe for scrapbook pages. It works perfectly on all our colored card stock.

I like to buff with say a tissue or Swiffer after I apply the chalks...then do the lift off with the v-padded stamp...then you can spritz with hairspray or fixative. The pastels do sit on different cardstock differently. Some need burnishing more than others. the chalk should sink into the cardstock overnight, and won't smear.

Batik Technique - Stamp your image using VersaMark on ultrasmooth white, confetti, or some other light cardstock. Emboss with clear embossing powder. Let cool. Then gently crumble paper into a ball, or you could fold it into a small square for a different look. Unfold it, and smooth it out. Place it on a towel and wet with water (or spray) so the paper is very damp. Next, ink your brayer with a spectrum ink pad and brayer across the paper. The image will stay white while the ink will seep into cracks and the rest of the paper will have a batik look.

I think I'll just stick with the Versa mark pad. On another note I just purchased a Versafine ink pad. It is a archival dry pigment ink pad. It states on the back that it is for finer details and quality impressions and that it lasts longer then other stamp pads. I bought it with my 50% off coupon to try it (cost full price was $8.99) I tryed it and I must say I was very happy with the results.
