New Die Cutting Machine

Xyron is coming out in November 2005 with a portable shape-cutting machine. It is going to cost $199 but that includes the die cut machine, power cord, blade, adhesive cutting mat, and two design books (complete upper and lower case alphabet, numbers and punctuation and a book of 30 shapes). check it out at

From the picture on the website I wasn't all that impressed. It looks like they cut a flower but it didn't look symmetrical. I would have to see it in action before laying out $200 for it.

Yes I have seen it and I want it! The question is do I NEED it! Of course the answer is no, I can get by with the things I already have. ;o(

I have it and it is soooooooooo totally worth it! Of course I purchased it at it's original price :0(. You can cut any font, any shape, etc. I sold my Zip E Mate, punches, templates, etc. cause I didn't need them anymore. I can't say enough good about it and the customer/tech. support is wonderful!

Which one do you have? The website makes you think you can only use their font and shape packs. Can you import any font or clip art? - That would be worth it! Kathy

I hear you can do that with the Wishblade advanced system. I am waiting for the Robo Craft to come out, it looks better and was designed to cut on vinyl so I'm thinking it may be sturdier.

Okay, I found info on the Wishblade advanced system. I collect true type fonts, so being able to import them would be and important feature for me. The RoboCraft looks interesting-when is it going to be released in the US?

Actually the website is very clear about you being able to use the Advanced to trace clip art as well as font. That's the difference between the Basic and the Advanced. With the Basic you can only use their font and shape packs. With the Wishblade anything you can trace you can use. You can import clip art in .jpg and .bmp format and trace from it.

The Robo Craft is already out. It's only out in the UK. I don't know if they have any plans to market it in the US. The Wishblade can also cut vinyl.

Yes, you can trace any .ttf font. I don't know if they are planning on releasing the Craft Robo in the US.

Thanks. I must not have been looking at the right page then. I would be very interested in one of these. I recently won a Sizzex sidekick, but purchasing all the dies I want to go with it is very pricey, not to even begin to mention the price of alphabets . . . even using JoAnn's or Micheal's coupons! So now I've got something new for the Christmas list. Thakns for the info JoAnne, very much appreciated. Kathy

You're very much welcome! That's why I got the Wishblade Advanced. I sold my die cutting machine and all my dies + punches + templates. It gets really expensive even using coupons getting dies. Also, most alphabets are either upper or lower case. The possibilites just seemed endless. I've also used it to make stencils to dry emboss with.

Robo craft is already in the US. They are looking for more people to carry it... I emailed them... the only place you can get it right now is in kentucky. I emailed them and got this...

No fancy electronic stuff til I get stateside permanently. I don't wnat to risk $200-500 on something that works on transformers only to get it home and find it won't work any longer on the regular outlet stateside. (i've heard of sewing machines doing this so I'm not risking more than I need to while here LOL)

I'm so jealous! Oh well... that's what my sizzix and quickutz are for, right? And the ocmputer printer for journaling :D
