Computer Woes + new LO

I am so sorry that I haven't been on much! I've had to reboot my laptop about 40 times a day in an effort to get all my files off it. But now, the end is near and my faithful laptop is going caput! I've backed up just about everything. Now I've got to part with it and let CompUSA do their thing and switch out the hard drive. I'll admit, I'm having separation anxiety! LOL I don't want to let them have it.

I finally just sat down and did some scrapping last night. I decided that I'd use a kit and see just how many projects I could complete with it. I hope that it will be worth using as samples when I do the crop at the end of October.

Please take a look its in my "Special Projects" album and tell me what you think. There is a paint can, a LO, three cards and a 3x3 square all halloween themed. You opinion means a lot to me. If you have advice on making things better and feel more comfortable sharing that off-line, please do that.

Thanks and talk to y'all soon!

Hugs!

I'm so glad you got some scrapping done last night. It seems all you've done lately is pretty much battled it out with your computer. (Thank goodness for warranties!)

I love all the projects you made with the one kit! The paint can is great, and even better in person everybody. It all will look great at the crop next month, and really show people just how much you can do with one kit.

Thanks Deb!

Well my poor computer is now in the shop. They tell me that it should take

2-3 days assuming that it is just the hard drive and not the mother board. Please thank your DH for his help. I got everything except my comcast emails which is a real pain. I tried for a few hours today to get those compressed and downloaded, but it was too late the computer kept on freezing up. But that's life. I guess when it comes back I'll have another batch of work to do reloading everything! Meanwhile I'm on my old, old laptop. Better than no computer, but there are probably things I can't get to or do.

Wow you got a lot done from kit and a few extras. I've got to try and decorate a paint bucket. It just looks so fun.

If you want to get creative with what you put inside (without breaking the bank ), here's a fun idea I had for making a birthday basket earlier this year for a friend who's a real estate branch manager.

I got almost everything I put in the basket in one shopping trip to Cost Plus World Market, but you could start early & pick up things on sale to keep costs down.

My friend was opening a new branch, so I went with that as a theme. Each item in the basket was wrapped with a piece of paper with a suggested use for that gift attached on the outside.

On a single-serving bottle of wine, I put "For when your agents drive you to drink."

On a small bottle of garlic oil, I put something like, "For when you want the agents to stay away."

On a single-serving bottle of champagne, I put "Congratulations on your new endeavor!"

Can't remember what else was in the basket, but you get the idea. And my friend got a real kick out of it.

Just a thought.

Oh M-C sounds like it was a bear to get everything backed up. Hopefully it will come back better than when it went in!

M-C, all of it looks great! I love the tin, especially! Amazing to think that one can do all of that out of one kit! Good job! :)))

I like the tin too. The paper is so pretty. I love Halloween - think I decorate more for it than Christmas..... Sandy

Wow M-C. I love what you did with the kit. The scrapbook page is too cute. I love the paint can and the cards too. Hey, maybe this could be a challenge. Make up a "kit" that we could all copy and use.

I thought of that, but wasn't sure how we could each get a kit. Now that I think about it.... I suppose we could each have to use identical supplies..from our existing stash. OK I'll make this the November challenge and post it under a new thread.

Create as many things as you can from a single kit! There are two steps to this challenge. The first completed by the end of October is to assemble and show us your kit. (If you can't take a picture, you can post a list of every item that you are using including their size and shape). The second is to make as many items as you can from that single kit. This is a great time to do this challenge as you can create some of your Christmas gifts in the process.

Your kit must be created from your current stash (you can however buy things like paint cans or containers). Each kit must have:

Two sheets of identical 12x12 printed paper, One sheet of 12x12 One more sheet of 12x12 printed paper that coordinates with but is different from the first three. Two pieces of matching colored card stock. One sheet of white or beige cardstock (you need this for inside cards or journalling) One sheet of letter stickers. (Die cut letters may be used as a substitute) Up to 15 other stickers (they may be 3-d or flat) One 24" piece of ribbon. One 24" piece of hemp or cord

4 tags of any size. 10 brads/eyelets

Once you have assembled your kit please take a picture of it and post it. Kits should be posted by October 31st and then worked on in November. Finished projects should be shared with the group by the last day of November.
