OT: About Universal Heath Care

Just thought I'd share this as we were having a discussion, well at least a few posts on the subject of universal health care with many of our US nationals wishing that they had a system such as Canada's. A few of us who have seen a national system in action responded that it wasn't all you think it is and I remember saying be careful what you wish for. At this point, Canadians have no right to a private insurance plan, it's either wait in Canada or see what your money can buy in another country usually the US. Here is an article on the latest ruling by the Canadian Supreme Court on the subject of universal health care.

Like I said, this is way off topic, but as mothers, wives and grandmothers, and uncles too Dave and fathers, Matt, we do need to know what our health care is like and perhaps what it could/should be like!

Very informative article M-C.....I hope we continue to have the type of system we have in the U.S.A. In spite of my recent bout with my insurance (or lack there of it). Thanks for posting this for us to review. It is an eye opener....

I read the decision on another site. I was in another Greece for 3 years, which has socialized medicine. The problem they had there at the time, was other than administering medicine the family did most of the other care when you are hospitalized.
