OT: Back from hiding!

I've been in hiding, sort of. That or just lost. LOL My parents were here for a couple weeks for DD's baptism. We are all so proud of her! DH got the wonderful priveledge of baptizing her. I don't know about anyone else, but I was crieing my eyes out. :-) One of the men at church took some wonderful pics, burned them to CD for us, and I can't wait to print them out and scrap them.

Mom & Dad were here for Mother's Day, and for once I got to have Mother's Day with Mom. I called my sister and bragged about it, too. LOL DH spoiled us with a gourmet meal the Saturday before and then with grilled steaks & shrimp on Mother's Day. I know most of you haven't had DH's cooking, but ohhhhhh...you don't know what you're mising!

Meanwhile, I've started getting back into my cross-stitching again! YAY! Since I had my carpul tunnel surgery done in Nov., I discovered this spring that I can actually cross stitch again. I'm currently catching up on some old projects I started some time ago. Two were started when I was in college, which was over 11 years ago!!! LOL A third, and the one I'm focusing on, is for DH. I'm hoping I can get it done before Father's Day, but we'll see. Of course, I also splurged and finished off my collection of DMC brand embroidery floss, oh and picked up a new pattern to do one day for my sister. LOL

I'm also in the process of crocheting a prayer shawl. Mom taught me to crochet when I was a kid, and thankfully I've been able to pick it right back up again. I really like being able to sit and crochet and spend time praying for the receiver. Mom & I saw a couple pattern books on prayer shawls at Hobby Lobby while they were here. I went back a couple days later and picked them up for her along with some nice soft yarn for her to get started on one.

Of course, it's almost the end of the school year here, June 5th is the last day of school. So I had to start thinking about teacher gifts! I'm doing altered clipboards this year, including one for the principal. According to DD, the principal is retiring this year, so I'm glad I had already decided to do something for her. If she really is retiring, I know a lot of kids who are going to miss her, including me! Once I have them done, I'll get pics and post them. I'm painting, stamping, and using paper, and hopefully they'll like them and use them.

Oh, and DH and I celebrated our 11th anniversary on the 24th! It really doesn't seem like it's been 11 years, the time has just flown by. He took me out to eat at a nice restaurant, Goucho's...if you have one near you, it is SO worth it! Then we went to Barnes & Noble. :-) We found a couple new mystery books for me, a book for him, and then some. LOL Getting to spend the day with the kids and having some time for us was a wonderful way to celebrate! He surprised me with a new PDA! I've been missing mine since it died, so he replaced it with a newer model. It's so nice to have a PDA back! I bought him a counter-top spice rack, which he's loving, and some new Transformers he didn't have. All in all, it was a great day of spoiling each other and spending time with 2 of the most precious things that have happened since our marriage...our kiddos.

Now, off to catch up on some posts!

It's good to see you back. Sounds like you have had a very busy and great time visiting with your parents. Especially your mom. Can't wait to see pictures when you posted them. I also did altered clipboards this year for my boys teachers. I have never done end of school year gifts before always just Christmas, but they had wonderful teachers this year and just wanted to thank them.

We had a wonderful visit with my parents. Mom & I always cry when we have to say goodbye. DD told Mom & Dad that they needed to move here, and she was serious! I've done end of the year gifts since DD was in 1st grade. We've been blessed with such wonderful teachers for them, every year. I've done paper bag albums, altered lunch tins filled with goodies, and now clipboards. For Christmas this year I filled empty tea tins with a spiced tea mix then let the kids help me alter the outside of the tins. The Christmas gifts I get the kids involved. The end of the year gifts come from me as a thank you for all they do.

Welcome back Deb. It sounds like you had a wonderful time with your parents and a lovely Mother's Day. Congrats to dd on her baptism.

It is good to hear that your surgery was a success and you are able to get back to some of your favorite things.

Happy Anniversary.

Thanks Cathy. It's been great to be able to get back to doing things I enjoy. For the most part, I have freedom to do as I want/need with my wrist. However, it certainly didn't like me using my one-handed type pruning shears today! LOL

Great to see you back with us. DD's right, grandparents need to be closer if at all possible.

DD said they needed to live right next door. LOL Mom said maybe that was a little too close. DD replied with "Ok, two doors down." LOL But I would love to have Mom & Dad here in town! Not sure how well that would go over with our nephew, who lives in the same town as them. He might have a problem with that. LOL
