OT: I apologize

Jan 02, 2007 0 Replies

Hi.

I've been privately eMailed and blasted for a post that I wrote regarding the "theft of christmas gifts from parents that were mailed to the wrong address."

A certain individual wrote me how hurt they were by what I wrote. Look I'm sorry if I offended anyone. It wasn't my intention. I'm just old-fashioned and very vocal about things I feel passionately about. I write generically and don't outright blame anyone for anything. Our lives are totally different and our paths have crossed through this message board otherwise we wouldn't have passed through our individual lives otherwise.

It is my recent life experience that I find that the kids of this generation feel "entitled" to everything and parents are either too young themselves or just "give up." Just look at the TV show Nanny 911 or the like. Although we find those shows entertaining, it is sad that this is the way things are "being accepted."

Granted I don't have any children but I do have three nieces. One of which is 20 months old and says please, thank you, excuse me. I was in the supermarket recently (Saturday) and watch a child (about 9) eat a bag of chips his mother opened (from an aisle shelf) and then went to the cashier and refused to pay for the item when she (the mother) was called on it. She claimed she brought the item into the store -- survellience video showed otherwise as well as 6 customers. Unfortunately society today isn't what it was when I was growing up and I'm saddened by this.

I'm a New York'er born and bred to be outspoken. I apologize if anyone personalized what I wrote and took offense, I am typically shy and not outspoken but as of late I've been frustrated with what I've been seeing and got angry.

Off the soap box,

{{{heaving it into the trash}}}}
