OT: In search of Elderberries...

Hi all,

Ok, I need some help. My dh has his birthday in a couple of weeks and one of his very favorite things in the world is Elderberry pie. Now, the problem is, we live in the south (San Antonio) and elderberries don't grow down here SO, I'm looking for an online source to buy either dried or fresh/frozen elderberries so I can make this pie as a suprise for him for his birthday. Any suggestions? I've looked at google and they've got some sources for dried but they're $6.99 and up per 8 oz (and I have no idea how many I'd need for a pie!). Any help would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks Lynne,

I would have figured the other way around, half as much dried as fresh, so it helps to have more opinions than mine :)

I would suggest calling "gourmet" stores to see if they carry them. While pricey, $6.99/8oz is ridiculous. Do you have a Wild Oats or Trader Joe's or something like that? Maybe try the healthfood stores in your area.

Good Luck!
