OT: Math Question Help

Hi,

I hate math but I need an answer from the math wiz's or teachers.

If an exam has 80 questions and I got 14 wrong what is my score.

I'm coming up with 72%.

The test answers came out for my fingerprint job and I'm curious. Thanks.

Hi I'm a teachers aide and we would subtract the number wrong and then divide that number by 80 I get 75% Lin

I agree 82.5 is your answer. I went about it in a very long way, but got the same answer.

14/80= .175 100-17.5 = 82.5

6600/80 = 82.5% (66 is to 80 as x is to 100, so (66 x 100)/80

Way to go Kate!!! What fingerprint job? Inquiring minds or those of us who missed a post, want to know!

HI.

Ok. I've been a secretary for 20 years and after 9-11 had a major nervous breakdown. So after much therapy I "retired" from that position and decided to soul search and see what I really want to be when I grew up.

I love CSI, Law & Order, Crossing Jordan, Numb3rs, and Forensic Files. My favorite types of books are mysteries or true crime (not including Where's Waldo). Favorite Hobbies are Scrapbooking and Word Finds.

So when I was browsing the NYPD website for jobs I noticed Fingerprint Technician Trainee was coming up so I got myself a $30 filing fee and took the exam on May 21st after studing for over 3 months.

So with your help I've found out that I passed -- whoo hoo. So we will find out where I am on the civil servant list to be hired. The minimum to pass is 65% so it looks promising.

Thanks everyone for your help. Here's to hoping.

ok... I took 80 minus 14 and got 66. Then 66 divided by 80 equals .825 which is 82.5%

82.5%

66 over 80 x n over 100

66 X 100 = 6600 6600 divided by 80 = 82.5

Hi Hilda,

No I don't live in Manhattan but I did work in Manhattan and I thought my husband was in the towers having breakfast. I worked in the Chrysler Building and it was a target.

If you have ever visited the city I walked from the Chrysler building over the Queensborough Bridge (a.k.a 59th st bridge) to Queens Plaza to get home. It wasn't until almost 2 o'clock that I found out I was still a wife not a widow when Larry (DH) found a working phone to call home with.

I'm doing so much better. I was down town with family to Ellis Island and love to chaparone friends and family around the city. I'm even volunteering for the NYC bid for the olympics.

The list doesn't come out for another month so when Larry (he's a bookkeeper for the NYPD) finds out that it going to be posted then I'll let you know to cross your fingers.

and yes, please if you guys are coming in November I'd love to show you the greatest little shops for christmas/hanukkah gifts and the prettiest of windows.

Hugs, Kate
