LMAO!!! Kenda!!!! OMG...That is too funny! I'm sorry your cake didnt turn out the way you wanted, though...but at least you can laugh about it now! Believe it or not I have had a few failures too! luckily i had time to redo them and turn out okay. I have had wedding cakes that have sweat from the humidity, and the decorations slide down the side of the cake! I have had icing colors darken or turn different colors in the light! I have even had a wedding cake split across the top,(the icing) but it was because it was hot outside, and I iced the cake a little too thin on the top. so just so you know.....you are not alone...lol Thanks for the compiment!!

""What great cakes! I looked at the pictures of all of the cakes. You

have some neat designs (the m&m wedding, pizza). Too cute! Do you deliver to upstate NY? LOL! ""

Thanks Chrissy! No, sadly I do not . I did try to mail a cake out of state to a friend one time, and ...it was crumbs by the time it got there!

LOL Mom was given a recipe for a scrumptous carrot cake by a friend, pineapple, carrots, and I can't remember what all else was in it. Well, she bought the ingredients and made it one Sunday while staying home with my older brother since he was sick. Somewhere in the midst of her mixing up the cake, my DB went into the kitchen to apologize for breaking the sugar bowl lid from Mom's GOOD dishes (wedding present kind of good dishes!) and told her he was going to save his money and buy her a new one. Not a good time to do this bro...it just reminded Mom of how her sugar bowl lid got broken, etc. So she assured him that yes he was going to pay for a new one and slammed the cake in the oven. She went back later to turn the temp. down as the recipe stated, and the cake was bubbling. Cakes aren't supposed to bubble!! That's when she realized in her irritation with DB, she forgot to put the dry ingredients in the cake. She didn't want to waste it, so she dumped the dry ingredients in the pan, mixed it all up and put it back in the oven. It came out just as good, if not better, than the cake she tasted at the friend's house. Ever since then, it's been the "Never-Fail-No-Matter-What Carrot Cake"! Moral of the story? There's always a way to save the yummies! LOL Oh, except for White Chocolate Cheesecake when the springform pan has a leak in it and the hot water bath the pan is in gets sucked into the cake.

Last week I was baking an apple pie. Everyone was eagerly awaiting the pie. Dumb me started baking it right when people needed to be getting off to soccer. I was sending the kids over to soccer practice on their bikes as their father hadn't got home from work yet. Even if he had he has never wanted to ride his bike with the kids. The kids love riding over on their bikes. Anyhow, just as I'm getting the kids off to soccer hubby shows up. I tell DD to leave her water bottle and ball that her father will bring it over in the car. The kids take off. DH starts ranting about why did DD leave her stuff for HIM to take. I asked what's the big deal about throwing it in the car? He says he wanted to ride his bike with the kids. In shock I said I didn't know you wanted to ride your bike you never have. I had just sent the kids without him. Now he's mad that they left without him. So, he's stomping around. The whole time this is all going on I'm trying to finish up the apple pie. The kids, the husband and all the commotion and aggravation I pull the pie out of the oven and as I place it on the stove it does a 180 and lands crust side down on the stove! Apple juice is going every where. Hubby hears me cuss and comes in to ask if I need help. As politely as I can I tell him no just to head off to soccer. He insists I need help. I remind him I don't need help... go to soccer! He insists that I need help closing the oven door. I tell him NO! GO TO SOCCER! He closes it anyways and the oven thermometer I had set on the door flips into the oven. THAT'S why I didn't need help closing the door. He opens the oven and the timer is broken now. He tries reaching in with a hot mitt to get the timer and catches my good hot mitt on fire. My timer is broken, my hot mitt now ruined in the fire and there is apple pie leaking all over the stove. I grit my teeth and seethe GO TO SOCCER! He quickly retreats and heads off to soccer. I had just washed down the stove and knowing it was clean I took a spatula and shoveled the pie into a bowl. Proclaimed it Apple Smash and we ate it with vanilla ice cream. The kids thought it was so funny and delicious.

ROFLMBO Oh Lynne....I'm sorry to laugh, but I can't help it. Oh my goodness. I'm proud that you didn't harm DH in any way. Great recovery on calling it Apple Smash! The scrapper in me wants to know if you took any pictures and are going to scrap this. *runs and hides*

Go ahead and laugh it was a comedy of errors. After hubby left I was pretty calm about it ... I mean what could one do, but take lemons and make lemonade.

I was thinking it might make a good recipe swap. Good recipes that ended up as a disaster or good recipes that after a disaster came back to life with some creativeness. Have the recipe and the food disaster story to go along with it.
