OT: Thanks for the kind words & need some advice (car related)

Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement & prayers. I could really use them right now.

It's not easy to deal with everything that is going on, but as the saying goes "if you life gives you lemons...".

I have some better days than others, but for the most part I think feelings-wise the worst if over. At this point things are so crazy and sometimes even unbeliavable, that the best you can do is laugh at them or you'll drive yourself crazy (of course easier said than done). I hope no one here has gone or ever goes thru something like this.

Changing subjects......

By any chance anyone here has ever totaled their vehicle? and if so, what did you & your ins company do? I'm having a hell of a time with my insurance company & what they want to give me. I know insurance laws are different in every state, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

If you prefer to email me my address is the same as on the list (fabiola at austin dot rr dot com.)

TIA

Angie

Ive totalled my truck before.. out in the middle of no where... the ins "totaled" it and what they did was give me blue book value.. but then they took X amount off becuz of this and that.. so what I really got was alot less then blue book becuz I was alone.. in the middle of now where.. and simply lost control on a gravel country back road.. what are they wanting to do for you?

My brother had a car totalled and the insurance company didn't want to give him much, but he just kept after them with facts and figures and after about

1 year they gave him pretty much what he wanted and what was fair. We think he just became a nuisance.

Hey girlfriend!!!!

*You* totalled a car??? Naaahhh =P

My insurance wants to pay me almost nothing for my car (it wasn't that much to begin with anyway) or have me sell it to them. For some reason I don't feel comfortable doing that. I didn't hear back from them today. I was supposed to find out exactly how much I'm gonna get.

BTW, I love it how they get to decide if the car is "worth repairing" or not. I mean HELLO!!!! *that* is what I was driving and paying insurance for before the accident. The wreck btw wasn't that bad, but because the car is not worth much, they consider it a "loss".*whatever*

So, this is how they figure if your car is "worth fixing" or not: The repairs are barely $2K, but as the insurance ppl said, they have to add the cost of the rental car, towing, repairs to the other car, etc, etc. So after all those numbers are put together the total should still be less than my car's value (so like $10K maybe more).

----Sorry if I'm rambling. It's late and I'm beyong p!$$ed right now-----

So, in my lil' head I'm doing this math $2K for the repairs - $500 deduct =$1500 - Blue Book Value = Angie's check???? Does that sound right to you? Is that what they did to you?

Thanks to everyone for replying.

Angie

Sometimes when we get lost, we forget what we saw to begin with! LOL Bagheera (aka Baggy) was my baby. We got the name from Disney's Jungle Book because he walked just like a panther does. (He just wasn't as smart as Bagheera from Jungle Book!!)

I didn't but my mother did. They actually gave her more than her car was worth. She's actually had it happen twice. What do you need to know and I can ask her?
