Questions about using tags

I've never used tags on my pages, I guess because I don't understand them. I get those super slabs from Michaels sometimes, and they have various punch-outs, including tags, but the tags always make me scratch my head and go "huh?" If you need something that size, a rectangle cut from a scrap isn't all that different, and some of the tags actually are rectangles just with a tiny hole. They're based on gift tags, right? Is there some sort of scrapbooking tradition of people using actual gift tags from presents in their pages, and that's why companies sell them now, to mimic that look? Or, are you supposed to be like, pretending your page is a package?

I use the patterned paper tags as accents on my pages, especially if I'm using cardstock as the background. I also like to use them to bring focus to a picture or element on the page. Most of the time I'll add fibers or ribbon to them and use it for journaling on my page, or as the title of the page. I just think of it as another piece of paper that I can add ribbon to in order to dress up the page. I guess they could be based off the gift tags, but I've never thought of them that way.

OOOOHHHH Good question Luna! I feel the same way. I think they are just another 'elaborate' piece of ephermia (msp?) that I do not need, want or know how or take the time to dress up.

I use them for journaling as it keeps them in my eye, SIMPLE amd easy to use!

I use tags probably more with card making than LOs. Sometimes I do them for embellishing a page, including journaling for a page and have even made one for a title of a page. I do have 2 LOs in my baby album that I made tags for. I moved them to the front of the album if you want to take a look.

Guess I never really thought of using tags like gift tags! Most of the time if i decide to use a tag, I use it for journaling or for the title of the page. I have also used a tag for a small photo. I'm not much into elaborately decorated huge tags that take up half the page! LOL I have also used them on the front of cards. I hope you get some good ideas for using tags! Linda

I used the tags to make mini books for Sarah, Alyssa & Nicole.

Gift tags I use to repurpose into cards. If you look at my xmas cards from last year you'll see I used gift tags from BJs to use for cards.

I mostly use tags for journaling. Sometimes though, I will embellish them with flowers, charms, ribbons or other things and use them on a page.

I use tags to accent small photos and for journaling. An example is in my Challenges album in webshots - March 2005. They are great to stick in behind a matted photo with hidden journaling.
